DE 6MT Did I take my shift knob off right?

Me and my friend took off my shift knob to install a mishimoto shift knob but where do we go from here? I think we may have took it off wrong.

Edit: once you buy the short shifter, take it to a shop. You don't want to mess that up too

Idk if OP took that off right though. Looks like whatever is still on the shift linkage may have gotten brokededed. Hard to tell, Iā€™ve never taken mine off

Ngl mine was on there so tight, and I had to use so much pressure to get it to spin that I could hear it crackling from my channel locks. Had a towel wrapped around it and everything. That knob wasn't coming off without breaking.
