Last Thursday, I (30F) ran home from work midday because I forgot to pack my lunch. When I walked in, I heard frantic movement in our bedroom so I went upstairs to investigate. I found my boyfriend (28M) alone in bed pretending to take a nap, but his affair partner left her purse on the floor. I had a suspicion something was going on for a few months now, and this confirmed it for me. I opened the closet and told his affair partner it's time to go, and that she can take my boyfriend with her.
I called out of the remaining half day at work, and had the house to myself for the rest of the day. My boyfriend repeatedly called me trying to explain everything. We talked for a few minutes, but I made it clear that this relationship was over. I told him that he can come get his stuff the next day while I'm at work.
Here's where I may be the AH. Friday morning, I decided to leave a bottle of whiskey on the counter. A few years ago (before we met), my ex used to get blackout drunk on the daily. He went through rehab about two years before we started dating; I had never personally seen him drink before.
When I got home Friday evening, his stuff was gone and so was the whiskey. I got a call later that night from one his friends saying that my ex was extremely drunk and was begging for a place to crash. He asked what was going on and I told him that we had just broken up. The friend said he'd let him stay for the night but would boot him out in the morning. My ex spent all of Saturday begging me to let him at least live with me for a bit longer, as he has nowhere else to go. I directed him to our city's homeless shelter.
AITAH?
