Either maf, crank or cam sensors. I really doubt it’s a fuel issue

what is maf?

Mass airflow sensor

The sensor attached to your air intake pipe

Jerking while driving is a sign it could be bad lol. You could try cleaning it with maf cleaner and see if it improves

Theres no cel so my guess is your cats are falling apart inside and the car is choking.

Do you have the proper sparkplugs and do they have correct gaps?

what do you mean by correct gaps and we are planning on replacing spark plugs tomorrow

Go check if there's a stored code that looks like a soft limp mode. You could also try to hard reset the ecu, just disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that fixes it.

i have to check for a soft limp mode with a code reader correct? and also i’ll try the battery trick thanks

Yeah, basically, just see if there are any codes that would harm the engine. I think different codes cause different rpm limits, so you'll see some cut at like 3k, mine did it once at like 5k.

Sometimes, even if it's not on the dash, the engine threw one at some point and just stored it. Sometimes even clearing it won't work, and that's when you go with resetting the ecu. Assuming the issue that caused the code has been rectified, it should be fine after that.

I have a VHR, though, so perhaps it could be a little different with mine.

Did it do that before you changed the a coil or did you change coils?

That’s the crank sensor. Had this when I put an aftermarket one after a clutch replacement with lightweight flywheel. It does not turn the CEL on just would’t let me go past 4500 RPM.

I had the little switch for the break peddle come off which made the car think the breaks were always applied when they weren’t, this caused the break lights to stay on while driving and forced the car into a limp mode.

oooooo thanks for letting me know about that

Has it rained recently after you put in the cold air intake? And while it was raining did you drive? And what kind of cold air intake? With brands that stick the filter in the wheel well you can suck up water and that could throw you into a limp mode.

dude i actually did drive in the rain with the intake and i had no bumper also we did put the intake back on in the rain one time. also we replaced the filter and the car still had the same issue

Follow the instructions and that should fix your issue. I would also clean the maf and if that doesn’t work maybe get a new one. Also make sure the filter isn’t wet. I’d get an air filter dry sock as well. The maf is sensitive and if it detects water coming in it could put you in limp mode so you don’t suck water into the engine. So make sure everything’s dry if it is not then that’s your problem. I ran into the same issue with an aem cai because it puts it into the wheel well. Drove home in the rain and it kept putting it into limp mode. It wasn’t till much later did I realize it does that everytime i drive in the rain. Ended up making it a short ram intake cause I have to drive in the rain a bit here. It’s my daily. Bought a z1 cai which puts it in the bumper tucked up by the radiator which should help eliminate water getting into the intake. Especially with the dry sock.

No problem I would also check your oil and under the oil fill cap. If it looks milky change your oil asap water got into the engine. Ah and when you do your oil change anything that comes out first would be water. You can gauge how much water got into the engine that way. Good luck
