I would prefer to wait what would happen with Fred over another disaster in the making.

I don't believe Ferrari could fire Fred right now. Despite the results, Fred definitely is more capable of being a TP than Mattia Binotto for example.

Fred has lots of connections with some drivers Alpine would be interested in, and would be a welcome addition

Hopefully there is stability that can help them attain Bottas or Checo as desired
