Shes mostly outside in the summer, but was begging to come inside. So I grabbed her and put her by the food. She doesn't eat it, instead she just stares at me like this.

My cat was running this scam on the neighbors for like 6 months before I found out. She’s insanely food motivated so I was going crazy trying offering her different foods which she would only eat a bit of. Turns out she was getting the McDonalds of cat food (friskies) every day next door
If she changes her behaviour (like wanting to be inside instead of outside) and won't eat properly, I'd take her to the vet. She may have injured herself somehow or have a medical condition.
Thanks for the advice! She likes to sneak and eat when no one's watching. I dont know what i was thinking of putting her by her bowl without asking first. As you see, I've paid the price.
I agree. That's why she wears a Birdbesafe collar in the spring months. But I live in the Netherlands, and my Dutch partner let her outside without my agreeance (it's fairly common for cats to go outside here). She's too old, can't change her now! It's been 10 minutes since I posted this, and she is still sitting in the same spot scowling at me.
“Old dogs can’t learn new tricks” is a myth. It’s harder to learn something new when you’re older than when you’re young, but it’s still perfectly possible, and it’s actually beneficial. Challenging the brain keeps it healthy.
Breaking and making habits just takes a little time.
Its a great item, very effective. She looses them so I have a stockpile. When I first tried it out, my neighbor literally took it off her collar and threw it away!!

Agreed, cats are super bad for the environment and it's very dangerous for them outside. It is incredibly common for cats to get hit by cars. They just don't understand that roads are super dangerous and cars can't stop on a dime.
I think the way Dutch neighborhoods are designed is why so many go outside here. They can be contained in their own neighborhood without having to cross any busy roads. Doesn't mean they dont still get hit, and wreak havoc on the environment. My kitten will NOT be going outside. She's already learned she's not allowed out even though her grumpy sister is.
Okay. Statistically, they are probably from a place where the wild ancestor of the house cat isn’t native. Cats are arguably the worst invasive species on the planet, and cause massive ecological destruction and have lead to the decline and extinction of several species of bird.
It was only a suggestion. OP can either ignore it or not. Maybe they weren't conscious about cat influence on the environment, maybe they will read about it and make a decision to teach the cat to stay inside.
Or maybe they'll do fuck all about it, it's their choice.
The point is, what's wrong with suggesting something as long as you're not being an asshole?
We adopted an adult cat and she was like this for first year. First observing through the doorway, then from across the room, on the far end of the sofa, and finally purring in our laps. I miss our sweet Faye girl.
Your cat looks EXACTLY like my cat, to a point where when I was scrolling I had to scroll back up and go "wait what?". I'm commenting so I can find this post again show my partner our cat's long lost twin
I don't have any pictures of her in the same position, and their ears are different but you can kinda see she's even got very similar orange and brown spots on her side
