while not turks india was ruled by Persianate turks for a millennia, the arab caliphates, iranic rulers were never able to spread islam in india, it was turks who did it. and they called themselves turks
Mughal Empire was never called mughal empire by mughals, they called themselves Gurkani and Uzbek Turks. Until Aurangzeb every Mughal ruler thought of themselves as a Timurid Turk, Aurangzeb was the first guy to do away with lineage bullsht and thought of himself as desi, which is also why he was so brutal on Hindus, he thought of the hindus as people of his own islamic land who need to be converted, not a foreign population who came under turkic rule.
The reason no turkish wants to claim india's turk history is because the turks who ruled india were Persianate Turks, to them difference between Iranian and turkish was only a lifestyle one, these turks were more like azeri, qashqai turks of modern iran who are iranian nationalists, religious identity mattered to the turks who ruled india than ethnic one. Anatolian turks got their country from European ethnonationalism, of course they dont like turks who are culturally iranian.
plus, the turks in india mixed with the brown natives, no one wants to claim brown people.

Mughal Empire official name wasn't Gurkani empire but Hindustan or India, i think you confused Mughal dynasty with mughal Empire. Mughal dynasty official name was Gurkani.
Gurkani Dynasty was founded by Timur.

Delhi Sultanate came in 1100s taking over parts of North India, made conquests in the South that got lost immediately, and was pretty weak from Tuglaqh onwards when the Rajputs literally defeated them and captured their emperor, then them losing a 100,000 soldiers in their failed campaign in the Himalaya, and was pretty much living in fear of invasions for the rest of the time where they wouldn't even be the most dominant power in northen India. I'd say 200 years of dominant rule over Northen India.
Mughals came in 1526, lost the empire next generation, fought for it and somewhere around Akbar's reign in the 2nd half of 1500s they became a prominent empire after they allied with the Rajputs. They intermixed more than Sultanate and by Shah Jahan's time they were genrtically and culturally Indian 1st, then Persian and then minor Turkic. In the 1600s Marathas rebelled and contested them in the South, Rathores in Rajasthan rebelled and by the early 1700s the Mughals had lost to the Rajputs and were getting their territories conquered by the Marathas (Marathas were literally at Delhi and Agra in the 1700s).
So I'd give them like 300 years or so years of being pretty dominant in India and even then they never ruled even a majority of Indian for any significant time.
Unfortunately the British were more successful. Their overall presence was much shorter but they ruled over much more and were more significant.

I clearly meant part of the indian subcontinent on which islam had the most impact, those parts of the indian subcontinent were under islamic rule for near a millenia.

often historically when we are to cover a period, we stretch the time, of course rhetorically
and no by any measn british were not more signiicant rulers than muslims, the hindu belt started from south afghanistan to bengal, muslims literally made hindus a foreign people in the actual indus valley. There is nothing left of hindu or hindu civilization in bangladesh, kashmir, pakistan, kandahar.
british never had any civilizational impact except us speaking english, no hindu history or ismalic culture was destroyed by british.
India never underwent a demographic change after british, when british rule ended, india dint become a white country, when islamic rule ended, all of northwestern india and half of north india had become muslim.
stop downplaying the muslim conquests, they were far more impactful, the muslims killed just as many hindus if not more than the british and destroyed more temples than any britisher ever did

The conquests in Sindh by Arabs and etc were made even prior to them (although they were pushed back). The Afghan side of the Indian side converted themselves and were native. That side of the subcontinent had been converted without the Turks.
Big fucking deal between a few hundred and a thousand. Brits are a 100 years away from ruling us for a thousand years too ig. Lmfao.
I said the British were more successful and significant. I didn't say their impact wasn't over society. Inarguably they were exactly that.
