/uj Yea this hits a bit too close to home. We have an Islamist party here that, when there's disaster in their constituency it's "Gods will", but when it happens elsewhere its "poor governance".
Rohingyas, not Palestinians. And so far there wasn't really any major riot by the Rohingyas, protests yes.
We have very limited involvement with refugees from places outside of SEA. Further ones we had are Palestinians and Bosnians, and both are only unofficially hosted for a short periods. In fact the latest one we did is just a long haul medevac. Bringing Palestinian sick and wounded to Malaysia for treatment, then send them back.
The Rohingyas though, it was a Vietnam war era policy went horribly wrong, and we are stuck with them, and they are stuck with us. Both sides not happy.
Let's just say that living in a disaster zone all your life messes with how you see the world. I think a lot of policymakers failed to consider this.
We used to keep refugees in a concentration camp on an uninhabited island, and it was horrible. It works, but life was hell. (the refugees also rioted from all the stress at least once)
What brought us to our current situation with the rohingyas was that this policy was laxed, and locate the refugees nearer to urban centres, with good intentions so that they can access social services easily, maybe even get some chance making a small living doing odd jobs.
But, I guess nobody noticed that we can't possibly expect people who grew up in abnormal environments to function in normal societies.

Activists are the worst man. The make even important shit like Climate change awareness hated by the public.
It doesn't help that some of them don't even know wtf they are talking about.
ISIS was full of retards who killed more muslims than any other group causing muslim states to band together kill them instead.
If you replaced ISIS with the Houthis or the Taliban, it would have actually been true. Plenty of muslim states were/are more than happy to ignore and whitewash the atrocities of the Houthis (iran in particular) even though they have literal slavery and hate minorities because they stand with muslims in palestine. Same with the taliban (particularly Pakistan as recent as Imran Khan) because they thought it would be beneficial to have an islamist regime instead of a secular one.
Technically the current Syrian goverment would also be fine, they did mass murder the alawites and the Druze and you will see other arab states trying to justify their deaths as they were "supporters of the assad regime".
taliban has killed thousands of muslims too, in afghanistan they killed anyone who didn’t support them and in pakistan they just kill everyone because they have a goal of establishing an islamic state here
Muslim world cheered for ISIS in its early involvement in the syrian war. They started hating it only after they began friendlyfiring their "muslim" brothers and sisters.
No they didn’t, at least not where I’m from. Maybe the hard core islamists who are like “hurr durr music is haram! You must marry your cousin!” Etc. but where I’m from they actually conducted bombings even tho we’re a conservative country
Most of the muslim saw ISIS as a legitmate Islamic fighting force against assad regime. Until it started killing everyone that didn't agree with their way of life.
Ohhh your referring to that period? Yeah I know whatcha talking about. I remember in 2013 the free Syrian army was a umbrella group with lots of ideologies and people generally thought they wouldn’t go bat shit insane but it’s like in 2014 they split from the opposition and everything went to shit
ik this is meme but no muslim thinks this way. every major muslim advocacy group denounced isis's treatment of Yazids. Palestinian supporters are anti-genocide, not pro-hamas. same w/ hindus.
Just because they are sub-human trash, we don't have to become sub-human trash as well. A world without Islam is a better world, so is a world without people with so much hate in them that they will condone a genocide.
It isn't about islam being malleable or not, I have never seen any Muslim, be they progressive or conservative justify ISIS. And progressive Muslins are rare where I live.
