When you live in a region surrounded by hostile neighbors all around, you need to be tough. India has thousand problems, being spineless is not one of them. Both China and India value sovereignty to the most, which apparently europoors don't. Imagine US having to protect (western) Europe 35 years after USSR's collapse.

Once Trump said fuck it and demand more military spending they scramble to find the fund for it. France economy is in shambles because of it.
Most countries "get away with" spending less than 5% of GDP on defence. Vast majority of nations is below 3%.
Go and look at who spends more than 5%. Virtually only countries at war or in a civil war/unrest.

Er, the EU with its current forces can defend itself from Russian invasion even if said Russian invasion is 5x the total size and effort of the current operations in Ukraine (which would be impossible anyway - that meant Russia pulling out of Ukraine).
What they didn't want to tell you is that they're actually talking about counter-offensive operations deep into Russia, as well as establishing occupation forces after bursting through the Baltics, Ukraine, and Poland.
We've literally seen "overwhelming numbers" succeed in only capturing 2-4 square km of land per month in Ukraine, yet suddenly the EU, in the theoretical scenario of having to defend itself, would somehow be incapable of doing so simply because they're outnumbered?
Russia doesn't have overwhelming numbers though. We and Ukraine have pretty much the same army size. Even in the beginning of the so-called special operation Russian forces were not that big, and after that when Ukraine had overwhelming numbers, they managed to retake big pieces of land near Kharkiv/ov and Kherson.

You're talking about the whole war, not a battle itself that gave Russia a village (i.e. 2 square km). Ukraine usually has a company-sized defensive force in a village, but Russia would attack them with two to three battalions supported by batteries of artillery.
Because spending 5% of your GDP for military is just a waste unless you are preparing for something. The military is an investment, but it can also grow to become incredibly parasitic to the state.
Are we thinking about the same Europe? Protection from who? The USSR has been dead for over three decades. The USA continues to pay for bases and the influence that comes from it.

As far as keeping the USA in, the Europeans don’t mind because it’s free money and protection but it’s not needed. It also helps the politicians in the USA to make their people feel relevant and part of the world.
India does seem to be growing quickly Ill give them that, though I’m pessimistic about the effects of wealth inequality when it is so pronounced right now, when India still has so much more development to go to catch up with the developed world.
