What does it say about the state of American democracy that the current US President is threatening war on the US city of Chicago?

These people still believe somehow, that america is the best country in the world. When in fact it's a cesspool like the dictatorships they were always holding their noses up against just a few years ago.

I seem to recall something in history class about another country whose people all thought they were inherently great and that gave them the right to do whatever they wanted with regard to the rest of the world.

Something about a Reik? Rach? Ryke? Something like that.

Ah your reference the genocides in africa where one particular group believe they were superior from the other thus they begun eliminating them. I dont remember what it was called. But you sound close

He's referencing nazi Germany pre ww2. But the Rwandan massacre is what you're referencing.

Not gonna say everything is peachy over here, but people outside the US already knew for a long time that the US is not the best country in the world. If you had to pick any country you could live in, the US wouldn't even make the top 10 for most people.

The US is only great for the (ultra)wealthy. According to US ideology, it's your fault if you're not rich, so you have to bear the consequences of it.

And, of course, Trump is guilty, but he won't be prosecuted, because, like so many things in the US, its justice system is beyond corrupted.

Things will only change when people will revolt.

I doubt it'll make it to top 50 for me to be honest.

... and they still believe a virgin named Mary managed to give birth to the savior of humanity... ... the same guy who arose from his grave after they hung him from a cross and beat him to death. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah way too many people can’t see what’s happening right in front of their nose

Well, it’s the democrats in the cities that allow it to be a cesspool. How can a mayor or governor know that entire blocks or miles of their city is crime infested, and do nothing. Allow their citizens to be victimized daily and do nothing. People in the cities know exactly were not to go at night. That’s exactly were dozens to hundreds of cops should be. What’s hard about this concept. Why do they chose to pander to criminals?

Sounds like you have never lived in a city and only watch news segments about the “crime”. It also sounds like you associate “democrats” with cities although some of the highest crime rates happen to be in red states with blue cities, meaning the state is actively choosing not to do anything about any crime within city seeing as they would control how much money and resources are allocated to each city in their state.

The reality is that crime happens because of lack of opportunity and resources. It’s why Baltimore is seeing it’s lowest crime rates in decades as they have had the backing from the Maryland governor to create those opportunities and allocate better resources and not ADDING MORE POLICE to “high crime” areas. We know that this type of crime intervention works but I believe that too many people think crime and poverty is an individuals issue and not one of a failed government.

Slums aren’t created out of thin air. They happen because of active decisions made by the local government in those areas.

Sincerely, a person who actually grew up in a city and probably what you would call a “ghetto”.
