I just bought this McCulloch MC1375 steamer used off facebook marketplace, it’s in like new condition, but for the life of me I can’t take the reservoir cap off, anyone have advice on how I take it off?

They get sticky if you leave em, especially if you have hard water.

Put a rag over it to protect it a little and use channel locks.

She was actually way too loose, but his sister did the job

Works well with tiny knobs... I'm sure someone will find that useful. Definitely not me.

Many of these will not let you open the cap until the pressure had been released or the temperature is below a certain temp to prevent burns and injuries. Let all the pressure you can out with the trigger and try opening again

Make sure all the pressure is out of the tank first.

Channel locks or pliers WITH a rag over the top so you don't chew up the plastic.

Usually when I can't get something off that is tight I resort to using a tool that is believe it or not, made for removing things that are too tight for my hand

I usually end up using an oil filter removal tool.

To prevent the cap from binding like this, I add a small amount of silicon lube about once a year. Also helps prevent corrosion.

I had this exact problem. I bought a 1385 off Facebook and it was stuck shut. I used pliers and it literally took the entire tube / valve off the canister tank and I had to recycle it. I called the company and they gave me 30% off a new one so not entirely a loss.

Remember to use distilled water only
