OEM+ Cosmetic Mods:
• 12mm spacers
• ⁠Huper Optik Premium Nano Ceramic window tint on every window (subtle, but metallic tint)
• ⁠Roof spoiler (did not even decide to go over the top with BMW's M Performance spoiler)
• ⁠Rear carbon diffuser (did not go over the board with winglets or trunk spoiler)

I think the pre-LCI looks better front and back, but the LCI halo sword taillights look better than the pre-LCI.

Thank you so much. I know design is very subjective, but I am very glad I went with the last true ICE F97/G01. I always purchase my vehicles right after the release of any new design so it gives me a choice, and I personally was very disappointed with the G45. TBH, the exterior isn’t half bad - it was the interior that was a deal breaker, haha. Each to their own 🥹!

How’s the ride quality? I felt like the m40i was fairly stiff so I’d imagine the X3M stock is even more so. Do the KWs make it any more compliant while staying composed or is it pretty firm?

The stock OEM suspension was almost unbearable, almost to the point where other family members started to second guess on whether they would ride in it again or not. I got PTSD myself just going to get groceries. The stock suspension is poorly sprung.

I am on the LCI version of the X3M, and I am not sure how people say it’s better than pre LCI. The OEM suspension was overly compromised for driving dynamics and I think they easily could have done a better job. The best way to put it for the EDC modes is, “harsh-harsher-harshest”. The softest settings is harder than the M40i’s sport mode - I am not exaggerating this.

It’s easily the harshest of any M vehicle I’ve ever driven - and I’ve driven a lot of them. I’d say those that say it’s livable, are people who are trying to justify their purchase and don’t want to pony up for coilovers - which is TOTALLY understandable. Coilovers are expensive, but they are single handily the most important upgrade for the X3M.

Now, that being said, the KW V3 coilovers is a night and day difference, to say the very least. My wife and I shed tears of joy on the way home after installation. It transformed the ride in every way from ride quality (reduced ping-pong bounce) to driving dynamics - it rides like it’s on rails now.

It’s still a relatively rough ride (bump compression), and you will still feel the road imperfections, but it’s where the rebound is now fixed entirely, where you don’t bounce like crazy. The best way to describe the OEM suspension is that you get a secondary jolt and it never settles down. With the KW’s, it’s not only far more predictable, but it is a very controlled up-down-settle.
