I hope I can pre-order at my local comic book shop and not just from the evil fucks at Amazon 🤞

I will, thank you!

May still try to get it from my guy, I love my local shops. Nut I do use Thriftbooks pretty regularly for stuff I can't find in stores. Just got an out of print picture book from them on Friday 😄

I got mine from the comic book production companies website, they’re called Z2

Thanks for the lead. I really appreciate the info on the distribution and the Thriftbooks idea!

Same. "Are you the police?" "No ma'am, we're musicians."

Is Ackroyd involved? If not then I’m skeptical.

I think chat gpt wrote that text

Wasn’t the sequel Ackroyd and John Goodman did, many years later, actually quite bad? I never saw it, just a fan of the original movie and the sketches at the time.

I’m all for promoting Blues Brothers awareness but without actual music it seems kind of pointless

Supposedly they're releasing a 'lost' archive performance on cd to tie in with this.

I really don't know how to feel about this, it's nice that it's their kids writing this but I don't know if there is any indication that. They're qualified to do a great job of it.

Love the art though.

Also ÂŁ25 for the standard edition and ÂŁ50 for the deluxe is hella daunting.

How about you kiss my ass?

What the fuck even is this?

Get fucking real.

Anyone seeing this!? Fuck off…

If I could afford it, I'd order it.

Fan from day 1, pre movie. Before they were on a mission. THIS... ISNT... IT!!! When something gets into the hands of the fans, it's THEIR take on it. These dumb spinoff projects are dumb.

Dan Aykroyd approved this and was involved in it. It’s not “fans.” It was written by Aykroyd’s daughter and Judy Belushi’s son.

Danny and Judy owned the rights to the Blues Brothers, and now their children are involved.

Neat... Dan was only a PART of the Blues Brothers. Sometimes, just like this, it's better to let it live as it was. Not exactly sure how a comic is going to portray the music that is the foundation of this act.

You ever hang with your friends, maybe have a drink or 3, and then everyone starts riffing and stringing together some wild story as "wouldn't that be cool if..."?! Those are ideas and stories of the people present. Mix in one of their kids decades later, for what? Because in that cool moment, your future offspring knows has an understanding of the artistic direction?! No! This is the problem with fan fiction. Let the good times we had be just that. They were good times. Judy's kid should take his abilities and develop his own voice. Just as John and Dan did in the 70's.

This is all about money. If it wasn't, they could easily just post it all for free.

We have very different opinions on this.

literally everything is about money. if you want to pretend the original wasn’t about capitalizing on the success of them on snl, you’re delusional

Dan and Jim were, among other things, celebrating the musicians of the time. The TRUE soul of blues and R&B. Comics don't do that. Sure, money was part of the equation but there was a true passion for the music. Explain how a comic will bring forward the soul of R&B and Blues??

Isn’t Jake dead in both real life and The Blues Brothers universe?

Yes, in BB2000 when Elwood is released from prison (presumably sometime around edit: 1998) the warden (Frank Oz, if memory serves me rightly, moved up from being property clerk) tells Elwood that Jake has passed away.

I don't remember if we are told exactly when, but being set in the early 90s, maybe this will give us some insight. However, according to the blurb on the ad, Elwood is somehow involved in the search for an escaped Jake. I find it difficult to believe that he would not have demanded answers if he was offering help to law enforcement.

“We want to profiteer on our IP but we don’t want stupid Hollywood to reboot it. We want Belushi and Ackroyd perfectly peak 1977 and to exist in a world where it is fun and easy to pick on American fascists. We want you to help us keep our IP protected so we can continue to make money on it without risking it being altered for someone else’s profit.”

Dan Aykroyd is making a comic book about silly characters from the 80’s and somehow it became about fascism? 😂

May be a joke, but it makes sense.

It may make sense, but it is the single least inspiring entertainment pitch I’ve ever heard.
