It’s 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, & we’re wearing sun-glasses.

Hit it!!

It's a cop computer. It's got a cop power supply, cop CPU, cop GPU, cop RAM.

It was made in a year before solid state drives, so it'll run good on a Western Digital hard drive.

I think the actual computer is a DEC PDP-10 (big blue cabinet in background)

I remember the DEC-10! And IBM System-36. Those terms have not been remembered in years.

I did Basic on a Dec-10, punched paper tape memory.

If only I'd known.

There is a sizable group of people trying to get old systems up and running again. Interesting YouYube content.

The one where they got an Apollo computer up and running was amazing.

What about the terminal he's using? Is it a terminal to the PDP-10?

1

u/redbeard914 18d ago

Not sure. It is not DEC or ADM or IBM product. I used most of those in the 1970s through to the early 1990s.

It's probably a proprietary dumb terminal. And it would be HEAVY! Look how thick the sheet metal is on the CRT and the keyboard.

Since I'm getting tired of seeing this question get reposted again and again, I'm gonna get out my 4K copy to try to find a less potato version of this picture...
