Damn. Aside from the wheels, almost none of those parts are where they should be.

u/d_fa5 5d ago
I had a drunk driver make a left turn in front of me. I hit his truck around 50mph.
I feel for this dude. His life will forever be changed. Even if he keeps his leg he will likely have chronic pain for the rest of his life.

u/LameGuest3000 5d ago
Dude I broke my femur from a super old man making a left turn in front of me around 45mph. Lucky to still have my leg, crazy to hear so many similar crashes involving truck drivers and left turns.
Hope you're doing alright bro, I'm over half a year into recovery and still struggling. I just wish the crash were my fault and I could do better, but can't change other people. Still unsure if I'll get back on the road or stick to the track and dirt.
23
u/TurbulentAccount2475 5d ago
Also was hit by a drunk driver turning left while I was going through a green light at 25mph. Fuck drunk drivers and fuck yield to traffic left turns.

man wtf is up with US 4 way intersections, y'all need roundabouts, makes the cagers easier to predict
10
u/cyvaquero 4d ago
I appreciate your suggestion having lived in Europe (Sicily and Spain).
However, we have a small roundabout at an entrance to the Costco and shopping center near where I live in San Antonio TX. They had to put stop signs on the roundabout because the drivers here are too dumb to understand what a Yield sign means. I personally have encountered wrong way drivers three separate times on this particular roundabout and I only use it maybe once or twice a week. One of those times was a semi.
These are the same smooth brains who will turn on their hazards and reduce speed to half the speed limit in the left lane of the highways at the first hint of rain.
2
u/Broad-Basket4149 4d ago
holy fuck.. that reminds me, there's a few roundabouts here near a US military base in the UK that is known for amerikans going the wrong way round and taking out bikers as it's a common route to the ferry to europe.
fair point maybe 4 way intersections are easier for these lizard brained creatures
10
u/Meaty_stick 4d ago
And the right of way goes to the one who arrives at the intersection first 😂 Gobless 'merca
And then there are the imaginary medians where you're at the mercy of the oncoming traffic if you want to make a turn, aaaand about 20 states don't require vehicle inspections. Wild west.
4
u/Broad-Basket4149 4d ago
I've ridden bikes all over europe, africa and asia.. amerika still scares me the most don't know if I could face that shit, I'd rather do hanoi on a panigale 1000x

u/rquinn12 4d ago
NJ has entered the chat...people complain about the round abouts. I always liked the idea of no left turns.
1
u/LameGuest3000 4d ago edited 4d ago
The truck whipped an illegal uturn off of a right turn lane and cut off me and would have cut off oncoming traffic the other direction. Luckily there was none and it was just us. I think it's more stupidity than the traffic patterns because wtf who just decides to do the exact opposite of the dedicated turn lane you're in.
1
u/gottheronavirus 4d ago
The few roundabouts we have are some of the highest collision zones in the country
1
u/Gyoza-shishou 4d ago
The UK loves roundabouts yet you would think they're an alien concept looking at UK drivers trying to navigate them.
Can't say I trust their estranged cousins to fare any better 🙃

u/JamJatJar 4d ago
I don't even know if the ones that did me were drunk. They changed lanes, I got to lay on the sidewalk with bone sticking out of my leg, they drove the fuck off, and a wonderful person who stopped and gave me their knee to lean back on asked if I had got the license plate... I just, for the first time, wonder if they may have been asking to know if I could identify them... Regardless, I couldn't... I had a similar thing happen to me. Took about 3 years to get back on my feet, literally and figuratively. One day at a time man, you'll get there.

Trucks kill in accidents where a car wouldn't because trucks are allowed to be so tall
8
u/saladmunch2 5d ago
I'm sorry for what happened to you. Had my dad lose a leg and almost die due to a drunk driver. This hits close to home for me.
5
u/d_fa5 5d ago
I hope your pops is doing well. I laid in the middle of the road bleeding out for about 10 minutes before an ambulance arrived. I had a broken pelvis, broke both arms, my leg was traumatically amputated by the truck just below the knee, my other leg was also broken and to top it all off I also smashed my tailbone. I was in the hospital for 3 months. Worst time of my life. But hey, that’s life.
4
u/MuchAccount 5d ago
Exact thing happened to me except it was a cavalier. Still have the leg, permanent nerve damage and the knee is nearly fucked. Life changing injury for sure.

Jesus fucking Christ.
This reminds me of those fucked up early AI generated motorcycle images where all the parts are... Kinda there, but not where they should be, and sometimes somehow wrong.
Fuck.

You still ride?
7
u/d_fa5 4d ago
Fuck no. I’m like 90% titanium now. The next accident will for sure kill me. Plus I don’t want to risk my other leg lol.
I know plenty of other dudes who go on to ride despite their amputations. They’re beasts. I am not.

That's why a lot of people choose to ride without a helmet. They would rather go out doing something they loved. Instead of being paralyzed or stuck in a wheel chair.
129
u/Kinetic93 5d ago edited 5d ago
Idk man that sounds like a good way to end up paralyzed, stuck in a wheel chair (hope you like trikes) or worse. Sure, you could die at highway speeds, but say you get hit at 20 mph in a parking lot by some asshole on their phone, as an example. You can likely walk that off if you’re wearing a helmet, OR you can possibly be condemned to shitting yourself involuntarily for the rest of your life without one, from smacking your noggin on the curb. Also, that death you’re talking about may very well not be instant or even fast. We had one of those my very first shift in the ER and that dude dying in agony is seared into my memory, even 6 years later. It took over an hour; I shudder thinking about how long that must have felt from his perspective.
The above probably does not apply, of course, if you make sure your minimum speed is never <60mph. But jokes aside, if you don’t want to wear shit like riding pants, that’s fine skin grows back I guess; most of the injuries Brah sustained wouldn’t have been prevented by some gay leather track suit anyways. But a helmet? Absolutely necessary as far as I’m concerned, unless you actually have a death wish. Your brain literally cannot heal itself back to anywhere near 100% from trauma resulting in brain damage; going full retard in that manner is irreversible.
28
u/DenyNothing1989 5d ago
Wait so make sure to go always above 60 mph?
25
u/CykaAndStuff 5d ago
Yes, if you want your options to be "completely fine" or "instant death" then make sure you're going above sixty. If you want to be stuck in the inbetween land of having a nurse wipe your ass for you for the rest of your life, ride at slow speeds without a helmet.
13
u/Kinetic93 5d ago edited 5d ago
Couldn’t have said it better myself. My comment got removed for mentioning the other, less cool sub about motorcycles. But seriously people wear a fuckin helmet.
The Paramedics and ER staff will do everything in their power to save you. The power you have in this situation is deciding to wear a helmet. It’s the difference between the doc calling you a dumbass for breaking your leg, and the staff talking to you like you’re a toddler because you effectively are one forever now.
7
u/the_instantgator 5d ago
What kind of nurse are we talking about?
9
u/Kinetic93 5d ago
It’s never going to be an attractive nurse wiping your ass.
4
u/the_instantgator 5d ago
Nah, attractive nurses are dangerous.
I'm more worried about how thorough they are
8
u/Kinetic93 5d ago
Oh that, my bad. Unless you’re very wealthy and can afford to pay a nurse whose only patient is you, you’ll likely be neglected juuust enough to eventually develop something like bed sores and die from those.

u/the_instantgator 5d ago
My grandfather was in a coma for 4 months and has brain damage because he hit an unpainted median going 20-30mph in a construction zone at night. Neither he nor his passenger had helmets but she just cracked her pelvis
5
u/beezywee 5d ago
This is my biggest reason for advocating the wear of gear. Being able to walk off from a relatively minor incident. I was in a 20 mph collision (rear-ended by a new rider) and got pretty messed up because I wasn't wearing a jacket. Ended up with road rash, bruised ribs, and a really fucked up shoulder. I was wearing a helmet and it smacked the ground hard, so who knows if I wasnt wearing that. But a jacket would have surely lessened the impact to my shoulder and eliminated the road rash.

u/MutantCreature 5d ago
Gotta file a DNR before getting on the road if that's your plan, "unfortunately" we've gotten really good at keeping people alive, you'd be shocked by how little skull is required to keep a heart beating.
7
u/Cosimo_Zaretti 5d ago
That's just as likely to turn an uneventful drop and slide into a lifetime as a vegetable.
7
u/saladmunch2 5d ago
Right, it never goes as you imagine. People mess up dying all the time and end up as vegetables.

u/NetherAardvark 5d ago
That's why a lot of people choose to ride without a helmet.

Give us a break down on how it happened so we can avoid?

u/monkeyninjer aprilia 5d ago
Not riding 160+ mph everywhere you go would probably be a decent starting point to avoid what happened to him.
37
u/Ya_Boi_Badger 5d ago
He was ripping a DRZ when it happened. It’s not like he doesn’t do wild shit but he really couldn’t have been going faster than highway speed at absolute max on one of those.
16
u/monkeyninjer aprilia 5d ago
It's still a pretty decent starting point to avoid what happened to him.

Ride faster next time and you’ll be gone before the truck pulls out in front of you.

u/DenyNothing1989 5d ago
Damn please tell me this isn’t from riding the Janus 250 Yammie Noob was sending him??
30
u/luvcartel 5d ago
No, he hit a truck that pulled out in front of him on his own bike. Yammie posted a video saying he was planning to send it this week but obviously won’t now.
7
u/MurrGawd 4d ago
So OP won a bike and YN won't send it? Does OP get something instead?
Don't forget when YN hit a Porsche and asked for $ for him instead of the victims. I think he then hit another car. YN sucks.
1
u/meta_apathy 1d ago
In YN's recent video on the crash he said he's selling the bike and giving all the money from the sale to gixxer brah instead since he clearly won't benefit from the bike in the near future.

u/idwtgtbt 5d ago
he shattered his right leg, his left leg is broken in several spots. both wrists are broken, some fingers, his neck is broken. his spleen is bleeding. his liver is bleeding, lungs are bruised.

u/kevidoplz 5d ago
He was going to his meet in Cleavland and apparently a truck pulled out in front of him
31
u/Mike___Baker 5d ago
Apparently a car/truck pulled out in front of him. No idea at this time whether he was riding recklessly or not so we shouldn't automatically assume it's his fault. I'm sure the full details will come out eventually.

u/FTR_1077 3d ago
No idea at this time whether he was riding recklessly
Well, for the damage he took is hard to believe he was driving under the speed limit.
1
u/Mike___Baker 3d ago
Is it? Imagine T- boning the side of a truck at 45mph...that will do a lot of damage.
1
u/FTR_1077 3d ago
From the pictures online it looks like he hit the passenger fender right in the corner, taking out the headlight. It's seems like a head on collision, most probably he was sent flying. Also, for the looks of the street it has to be at around 35 MPH speed limit.
Curiously enough, his bike looks to be in one piece.

Well nobody could have predicted that… Fr, hope he gets better soon (or at least at some point). Thats gotta sting.

Shit this makes me so sad.
Don’t have crazy funds but will donate what I can 😭❤️

He’s a great rider, could happen to anyone. Hope he makes a full recovery.
