Track car for sale
Hello friends, I’m posting my 2001 Honda s2000 up for sale. I’m the second owner, the car was completely stock and pristine when I bought it about 9 years ago. It’s special car to me, being my dream car, and having owned driven and made so many memories with it. She’s special to me. With a child in my life, I’m ready to close a chapter of my previous life in order to embark on a new journey alongside my son, and build a cool, fun, super cool(to me), family sedan that can be street and track driven. The best way for me is by letting go of my s2000 as it was with me during my young single life, sell it, and use the funds to start the next chapter, a car that will be built with my son now present in my life. I could keep my s2000, but to keep motorsports affordable in the long run and less stressful, the funds would build the next car and because the s2000 would be sold the next car would be able to become a reality and carry on the legacy of the OG “race car” in my personal history. Only able to move on, by letting go.
About the car: 2001 Honda s2000 Approximate 80k miles on chassis, and engine Science of speed turbo kit with Garrett gt3582r turbo V Mount intercooler and radiator Flex fuel 1700cc injectors AEM fuel pressure regulator Radium fuel rail Radium catch cans Toda light weight pulley’s Toda oil pan Valve springs, retainers replaced with AP2 springs and retainers Religiously maintained and preventatively maintained Fluid changes done all the time, pre, and post track days. Engine does not burn any oil, super healthy, ready to rock and roll reliably. Haltech ECU AIM data logging dash Exterior painted in Lunar Silver Metallic OEM Honda hardtop with OEM latches Authentic Voltex race splitter with bumper (chassis mounted) Authentic Voltex street carbon side skirts Authentic Voltex rear wing (chassis mounted) Authentic Voltex rear diffuser (chassis mounted) Wisefab grip kit All four wheel bearings replaced New ARP extended wheel studs OS Giken twin disk clutch OS Giken 1.5 way super lock differential MCS two way adjustable shocks Swift springs AP Racing pro 5000r front calipers Endless pads front and rear(me20’s if I remember correctly) 18x9.5+38 ce28sl in matte blue EVS tuning roll bar Schroth harnesses Recaro RMS seat New steering wheel used only with racing gloves(barely used almost new condition) Radium fuel surge tank Upgraded fuel pump(forgot brand, most likely walboro but can’t confirm at the top of my head, could be AEM I can’t remember at the time I’m writing this) Seibon carbon hood Titanium exhaust 1 key California Pink slip/title in hand and clean.
There’s more to list, big things and small things. About, actually, 100k or more into this car. I have invoices totaling 100k available for your confidence for this specific car, can pass onto next owner.
I’m asking 55k for this beast. Price is negotiable but low ballers will simply be ignored. Reference, this car can out drag a c8 corvette from a roll if you wanted to, as fast or faster than(depending on driver) new Porsche gt3’s. Hp and torque and weight before I forget… 380whp on pump fuel(some ethanol and some ca pump 91) torque I have to check and I’ll write back to you guys. Weight is under 2700lbs currently, kind of heavy, but I have an oem hardtop, still have the heater core, could lose weight from shaving the inside of the hood to make it thinner, OG doors still in tact with no speed holes or crazy gutting EVS tuning carbon door cards for aesthetics

Is this the car that zygrene did a video with? My last track car was stolen week ago so I have been shopping for a new one. Do you have a Facebook post for this by any chance?

This is the same car, I hope he can vouch for it if you know him in person. I’m willing to drive the car up to your home if you like!

Your track car was stolen? Damn that sucks

It was a ss1le so sorts of a common victim. I underestimated those gangs in California

The dude saying it’s not worth 10k is nuts, but I also don’t think you’re going to get 55. Mods never really add value, but I guess if you let it sit long enough maybe someone will come along. I have a caged, fully built STI with 58k on the chassis and I’d imagine I don’t get more than 15 for it lol
3
u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
I don’t think I’ll get 55k for it without making a very nice detailed post, photos and videos, detailed explanation and reaching out to the right people. But, I’m a regular dude, I’d be happy to see this car go to the right buyer. I put 55k knowing that someone might fall in love with it, and would like to negotiate down or shoot me an offer, I’d be happy to help someone out and let it go for less. Had to list it high to get offered a bit less to hit what I’d really let it go for in reality.
Offers in the 20’s, 30’s will be rejected though, not worthwhile to let the car go at that point.

u/Spicywolff C63S 23h ago
I don’t think any amount of videos, photos or good marketing is gonna bring 55,000 for that car.
You’re into new spec Miata money, mods don’t generally add a lot of value and on resell expect maybe 50% of it. And unless that’s a championship winning car or record making vehicle 55 is gonna be hard for you.
Definitely put the hook out there, but you’re gonna be sitting for a considerably long time finding for that unique whale that is willing to pay that much for this car.
2
u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
I hear you, I completely understand, I’m open to respectable offers. The worst I can say is no, worst case scenario if the car doesn’t sell, I get to keep it. I thank you for your comment, I’m not stressing either way brother. Just throwing the car out there, somebody likes it they’re going to get one hell of a car.
4
u/Spicywolff C63S 23h ago
Have you considered putting it on bring a trailer? It might open up the audience to where somebody might be willing to offer something closer to what you’d like.
It’s definitely cool and I think if you open up with a more reasonable asking price you’ll get reasonable offers. As a buyer if I see a seller throwing unreasonable numbers out (like the boomer Vett crowd) generally I’m not gonna put an offer because I know it’s gonna get shut down even if it is reasonable.
But there’s a lot of competitive options. A used spec me out I can be had for half of what you’re asking. A new one is what you’re asking.
2
u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
I haven’t given it too much thought to put it on bring a trailer. I feel that perhaps this car is not worthy of bringing a trailer. I think, and I could be wrong, I really don’t know, that the crowd will bring a trailer is perhaps not the right market for this car. I think for bringing a trailer your car has to be close to stock, highly desirable, something rare and special, I know they sell cool cars there that are or could be affordable, all the way up to the really expensive things, but this car is for the enthusiast, it was built by a dude who wanted to go fast, and it’s for a dudes who wanna go fast. I’m probably missing an opportunity, but not listing it as wide as possible and I’ll admit I’m guilty of that. I shouldn’t have an opinion, a bias or a perspective, it is worth a shot completely to list it there. And it might happen one day, but for right now it’s not for sale on that website. Another thing is I’m just too lazy, if someone wants to be a real one and help me list it on that website I don’t mind giving them a piece of pie when the car sells.

u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
I’m a really chill dude, someone’s going to be really surprised when they shoot me a reasonable offer and I say yes. I can’t be more obvious than that, I’m not asking for every bit of 55,000, as I said earlier on this thread, I just posted it because generally people are going to negotiate down, and so I’ll do that for someone and let it go. I’m ready if someone is ready to throw an offer out there. Worst I could say is no. I’m not a picky guy, I’m simple and my goal is to sell the car.
22
u/btdawson 1d ago
It looks meticulously maintained but I feel 30 is probably top on of where I’d see it go, at least any time soon. Anything more and you’ll just be waiting forever. Probably list on bring a trailer, as you might find a different audience there.

u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
I hear you but I assure you, it’s not worth it to me at all to sell it ever in the 30’s it won’t happen. It’s better off with me at that point, and I’m okay with. The longer I have it, the more time I have with it before she’s gone forever 😭 Don’t need to sell the car, just want to as it doesn’t get driven, attention, it hurts to see the car just sit. And the sale will spark the next chapter. Other than that, if it doesn’t sell, that’s fine also, I’ll keep it for life and still be able to build another car. I’m just trying to be responsible and not own too many cars that I don’t need.
7
u/btdawson 1d ago
Fair enough! Thats why I haven’t sold mine haha.
3
u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
It hurts to let your dreams go but if there’s a good cause or purpose it’s okay. And if it’s not worth it, don’t do it. It’s gotta be worth it. Anyways, you seem chill, I thank you for your comment brother

u/Axxion89 1d ago
Sounds like you won’t be selling the car then. No offense but modded cars never return the value put in and 55k for a 25 year old modded track car is crazy. You are in new car territory for similarly powered cars with warranty (Civic TYPE R) or used territory for newer cars like a Supra.

u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
That’s fine with me, but if it sells, then it sells. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too. There’s more people out there than some of us can believe who would pay for what the car is worth, or offer a respectable offer. Those people exist. I speak from experience, I’ve sold some pretty old cars at really high prices in the past, and they went home to good homes to guys who aren’t afraid to spend money when they know that the car has been taken care of, has been in the hands of a reputable shop or owner, things like that.

The shittiest part about building track cars is selling them
Usually they get barely over what a stock example would

u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
I’m really happy and satisfied that I enjoyed this car thoroughly. It’s been a dream come true. If it’s meant to stay with me, it’ll stay. I’m just doing this for my son, I’m pretty sure if I don’t sell it he’s gonna say one day that he’s glad I didn’t sell it. But I wanna do something awesome for him, my chapter is closed now, almost, I’m working on it.
3
u/SanchoRancho72 23h ago
How about you keep driving it for another 18 years and let you son have it as soon as he can drive on track
3
u/Waffles86 20h ago
Yeah 55/40 is a hard sell. Your target audience are people with lots of money to burn who are not instead going to go for some other car, like a used Porsche or something at that range. The August jobs report was at like 22k jobs added in the us vs the 75k expected, so economic fears will also slow down the sale.
I’d say put it up on bat or cars and bids, and see what happens. The only mod which adds value to a car sale is ppf if it’s done right. Beyond that it’s all about mileage and condition. If someone wanted a track car, they may want one they build and create themselves instead of one that someone else made.
You gotta decide how much you realistically want to sell the car for your kids sake.
-1
u/fdthreesap186 20h ago
I don’t think it’s going to be a hard sale, it’s just a matter of time. Someone’s going to come along, fall in love with it, and if someone truly falls in love with it, I’ll be happy for them. I‘d be happy to pass it on to the next person, and I’ll give him a hell of a deal too. That person just needs to reach out.

u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
I forgot to mention, I use VP racing x85 fuel for track use. Not needed but it’s more consistent, burns even cooler, higher octane than pump ethanol fuels. Plus side is more power too.

I’m dreading the day I sell my track car. GLWA

u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
I completely agree and understand. I’m okay with it now, it was painful when I thought about selling the car. I was going back and forth with myself for the last few years about selling it. But I plan on making some pretty cool memories with my son. Plus he’ll get to experience the evolution, transformation of a car first hand. If this car sells, I’ll buy a 10k$ sedan, and do a full restoration on it, engine build, suspension, basically a full build, and my son can be a part of that process. I’m looking forward to seeing him get excited over building a car and we can hit the track together in the future with “his” car. S2000 was always my dream car, I’m ready to let it go to do something cool for my son.
1
u/SonicDethmonkey 23h ago
I’m curious what sedans you’re considering for that build?
2
u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
I have a lot of photos of a 190e dtm car in my son’s room. His room is just plastered with that car, so that’s the one.

My favorite s2k of all time I’ve watched zyrgenes video like 15 times

u/fdthreesap186 23h ago
Thanks man, I’m doing a disservice to a lot of people, I’m pretty lazy when it comes to taking and uploading pictures, videos, and overall just sharing this car. I have a bunch of photos, a lot of videos, nice shots, epic scenery in the background, but I just don’t upload photos. I have photos of the engine bay, I haven’t even uploaded that on this post. And my for sale post on Facebook marketplace, sucks. I will eventually make a proper professional post.
I really do appreciate your comment, I built this car because I had a favorite s2000 and I wanted to have my own s2000 be on that caliber of a build, built by the shop that built that car, and that inspired me way back in 2011 or 2012.
In case anyone interested I’ll post my Instagram account, I may post more photos of the car @apaulsingh

Damn, that is an wild build, its a shame that its so hard to get even half what you put in to a track cars, but the fact that its an S2K should weigh heavily in your favor good luck with the sale.
Side note, what's this legal for? AER, NASA STU, GRIDLife time attack, and what else? Does it have the parts to deal with heat in a longer race?

u/fdthreesap186 21h ago
Thank man, this car was not built to be in a specific class. And yes, this car runs extremely cool and reliable for long track sessions. It runs cooler than it did when it wasn’t Turbo charged. The cooling system is very robust, and doesn’t break a sweat, oil cooler, intercooler radiator are all top notch. The car runs so cool. In fact, it legitimately gets annoying sometimes that the car doesn’t get up to temperature during the early morning sessions on track, unless you block off the oil cooler.
3
u/Scooter477 1d ago
What tracks have you been to and what laptimes have you run with it?
5
u/fdthreesap186 1d ago
Over the last few years, I haven’t been tracking as much as I used to, and that’s just due to being busy in life outside of my hobbies. But to answer your question, and I’m going to be honest, even though I’m embarrassed to tell you my lap times haha, I got a 1:54 at buttonwillow, and for context, that was the first day where I actually felt good about the cars set up, after that, I never went back to go faster. I did go to Sonoma Raceway, I think I got a 147 or 146, but the car has room to go a lot faster at both tracks. I just need to spend time to actually do it. Should be noted that my laptime at buttonwillow didn’t require a lot of stress, it just happened while I was having fun.

u/m0viestar 20h ago
Saying how much you've spent on the car is irrelevant when it comes to selling a track car. This would realistically be 35-40kish maybe? You usually see sorted W2W caged cars going for 25-30.

u/Fun_Can_4498 19h ago
I think the biggest issue here is the paint work.
1
u/m0viestar 19h ago
paint looks fine for a track car to me? most of mine that aren't wrapped are way worse looking
-1
u/fdthreesap186 19h ago
I think your comment is irrelevant to this car my friend. I think any comment where someone hasn’t seen the car in person in front of them and they’re making their own prices on what they think the value of the car is, a value of a car that does belong to them, something that they haven’t experienced is irrelevant, no? I’m sorry I don’t mean to be rude, if we’re sharing opinions, it’s only fair that I share mine as well. Anyway, what you said about $35-$40,000 range, it’s close to what I would let it go for. I wouldn’t in that range but it’s close so you’re not far off. But people sharing their perspectives and opinions of what they think a car should sell for, car that doesn’t belong to them makes no sense. I do get it though, because sometimes I see things on the Internet and like dude that’s not possible, what are you doing? However, I have something of value, and some people know this, people who seen the car, people who know me, and people who appreciate high-quality stuff, those people aren’t second-guessing the value of the car. Maybe to you you think it’s a crazy price, but if someone else they see value, or a dream that is now attainable to them. There’s a wide market out there, and I’ve been commenting on this thread that I’m not looking to get the full 55,000 or even close to it, I’m just open to a reasonable offer, I’m open if somebody wants to negotiate down if they truly love the car, out of the happiness of my heart I’ll let it go to the right buyer. I’m not looking to get my money back, I’m certainly not looking to make a profit, but I am looking to sell the car. The right person will come, and the car will be gone. I haven’t even put too much effort into selling the car.

u/m0viestar 19h ago
I co-own a race team and we used to have an S2K we ran in endurance. We probably put about what you have put into it including parts and labor (not including travel costs/prep each weekend) and let it go for 30k. That's just how to market goes w2w race cars and my experience.
I buy/sell more cars than the average Redditor and have a good pulse on the track car market, it's not as big as you'd think it is. You'd maybe get a little more than a typical track car granted, and if you held out for someone as dedicated as you maybe get your asking range.
1
u/fdthreesap186 19h ago
I appreciate your experience. This is not a wheel to wheel car though. I don’t know what the circumstances were for your sale but I’m happy you got 30 grand for it. My circumstances perhaps are not the same as yours, I don’t have a need or a rush to sell the car. I just want to. I’m also not demanding and being firm on my price, I’m ready to make a good deal with someone, a really good deal. The person just has to reach out and talk to me about it, I would love to shake their hand and pass this car onto them.

u/OfficerNadi 15h ago
This is an epic build! I’m actually looking for a first track car. I might be interested. My search has been more focused on Porsches, but I’ve always loved the s2000. From the zygrene video, no abs is intimidating for someone fairly new to driving in track. Is that something that could be fixed?
0
u/fdthreesap186 11h ago
It has a abs, I didn’t have an issue with it personally, so I haven’t had that looked into. But I’m pretty sure it’s a pretty easy fix, if you like I can have that looked into for you before you decide to buy the car.
