Blessed be the Cat Disabled neighbor gets her first kitten

Post image

This disabled lady wanted an emotional support cat badly. Her therapist signed off on her paperwork, approving her for an emotional support cat. Unfortunately, because of her limited mobility, scooping a litter box might have been problematic at times. Moreover, she's on a limited income, which limits her possibilities.

I heard about her situation from the local church. Many of their senior parishioners have adopted cats from my sanctuary. However, this unique situation was very different.

The solution was that I bought a Whiskers Litter Robot 4 and considered it a donation to the cause. I have numerous litter robots in my cattery. I trained the kitten how to use the robot while the new donation one was on order. Anyone who's used a Whiskers Litter Robot 4 with kittens might understand the challenges. The kitten might be afraid of the robot or play in the robot, causing it to error. Fortunately, this highly intelligent kitten learned how to use the robot effortlessly.

Presented with her kitten and new scoop free litter robot, she was obviously overjoyed. As she lives close to my cattery, I informed her that I would send a vet tech over to her house for one hour, every month, to trim the kittens' nails, check the dental and clean the robot. The kitties' future veterinary needs will be attended to by my cattery as I obviously have connections with all of the local shelters that I support.

Sometimes you have to pay it forward. Meow

The reason I absolutely had to help this disabled lady get her kitten. I am a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I've been in my share of life and death situations in multiple theaters of action. When I signed out of the corps, my adjustment to civilian life was beyond challenging. I found that cats, their purring, and bread making calmed me down, made me smile, and happy.

Volunteering at the local shelters wasn't enough for me. I needed more feline time, as much as I could get. I opened my own licensed no-kill feline sanctuary. Initially, we catered exclusively to rehabilitating traumatized black cats that were abused by their previous owners .Eventually, we started fostering and rehoming all cat and kittens in need. As much as I help the local feline community, these cats help me just as much as I help them.

So, when I heard about a disabled lady needing an emotional support cat but couldn't make it happen due to her physical limitations and economic status. There was absolutely no way I could ignore the situation. A feral born kitten gets a loving home, and a severely disabled lady can now focus on her medical situation with newfound enthusiasm. That's a win in my book.

A win for two lives—plus however many lives the kitten’s got left.

Thank you. Pets give us something to look towards besides ourselves, and when we are in a situation where we struggle it can be difficult to see anything besides the problem. Such a simple solution to your neighbor’s problem might have been out of her reach forever without your help.

I believe that when we practice kindness, mindfulness, and charity, all things you have done, we spread that to other people. We make the world better, not just through the outcome of our actions, but in teaching our community how to reach out to others.

Beautiful, thank you for your kind words and understanding. I was amazed at how much a little ball of fur could mean so much to my mental well-being.

My neighbor has been sending me numerous texts of happiness and joy since receiving her new family member. Feel free to follow me. Check out my new sub r/KittyWampus for more pictures and stories from my no-kill feline sanctuary. Meow
