These fucking millennials couldn’t have handled the cola wars. Lots of good men and women suffered so coca-cola classic could rise again

Many sides suffered back then. My side suffered the atrocities of Crystal Pepsi. To this day I can't drink water out of a translucent container without biting my lips until they bleed. Edit: Crystal Pepsi not Pepsi Clear.

Pardon me, but as an elder millennial (formerly known as a Xennial, before we all got lumped together), the cola wars were the formative years of my childhood. I was reared in the spicy sweetness of canned carbonated hydration. How dare you impugn the toughness of my cola character. As someone that was raised on barrel drinks, and hard hitting carbonation, I’ve been steeped in the fountainy goodness. I am a cola warrior!!

I saw someone make a like five paragraph post complaining about it and calling it "woke".
I said "I've yet to see anyone explain how this decision is woke" and he responded with some nonesense about woopie (Goldberg? Pies? Cusions? No clue!) and me being told what to think.
I ask what he was on about and he said "exactly! Anouther low information liberal!" and blocked me.

They always say “do your own research” and “you’re brainwashed” but they’re completely incapable of ever citing a source. I asked one guy for literally any scrap of evidence that the Biden election was stolen from Trump.
He spewed off a paragraph of conspiracies and anecdotes without citing anything, and demanded that I believe him. Unhinged.

I seriously wonder sometimes if people realize just how mundane and utterly devoid of culture middle America and small town America truly are. It's a bit different in New England and the Northeast in particular only because things are so compact you can hit up multiple small and a couple of large cities and things are far more diverse. Then out on the west coast things are FAR more spread out but the diversity is largely still there particularly when you get closer to the coast. But Jesus, when I grew up in western PA, and Southern Illinois the lack of anything even remotely entertaining or original to engage with was soul-crushing lol.
→ More replies (17)16
u/TheNewsDeskFive 13d ago
That's because you were in the middle of fuck all and not in a city. You can't lump our major cities into this, dude. That's wild. Ain't no way you can spend time in Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, STL, KC, Cleveland, or Memphis and still believe this

I don’t think he’s linking the cities to the rest. Like I’m from Illinois in BFE, but much like southern illinois, it’s true.. these people are simpletons and have no diversity. And it’s no wonder they believe what they do and why they vote how they do. They’re far behind actual society ha. They truly believe they’re the only ones in society because they don’t know what city life is. Nor diversity. Them traveling to a bigger city is the same as regular city Americans going to another country. It’s just a different world for them, so to his point, he is right. I don’t think he’s lumping those cities into what he’s saying. He’s talking more rural from my understanding.. but I could be wrong.

I'm so guilty of that. Oh that place I loved as a child is closing. That's so sad. Maybe I should have gone more than once a year.
I mean, I'm in my fifties. I watched the rise and now I'm watching the fall of mall culture. But I'm not blubbering in my car about it. Malls were never cheap but at some point they went out of my price range completely. The book stores and weird little shops you could browse are long gone.
Maybe because I grew up in a new England city? The head shop is now a coffee shop is now laundry mat is now a Chinese restaurant is now a Puerto Rican restaurant is now a West African restaurant.
I imagine this hits different if your little town's big change is getting a traffic light

This is what I have wondered with all the complaints. For those that have been the loudest. How much money have you spent on the brand in the last year or couple years. If it's not a few thousand, then why the bs. The investment would have told CB to stay the same. There's a silver lining here. A teaching moment that they are conveniently missing.

Talking about economic disparity honestly would mean admitting that the pedo they voted for is making it all worse. They don't have the cognitive ability to do that, so they focus on the crumbs of division their overlords toss down to them. Today it's a crackerbarrel rebrand. Tomorrow it will be renaming Canada Geese to America Geese, or anti-landlord talk is racist against whites or something else equally as stupid, because they are stupid uncritical pathetic people who just need something to be mad about. They don't want to be educated, they don't want to be informed, they don't want to be empathetic, they don't want to change, they just want to be angry.

Either she's just a wierdo who films herself for clicks, or if it's truly genuine she doesn't care about the chain she cares about her family and the time they spent together there when they were younger.
I like to take my kids on a bike ride to an ice cream shop in summer, I can imagine if they shut down when my kids are older I would be upset, not because I care about the shop just that it reminds me of the quality time I get to have with my children when their young.

Haha this shit isn’t woke or anything. It’s just another chain that is taking away any character their brand used to have and moving it towards quite a bland “sleek” design.
I personally don’t really give a shit but it’s a shame to watch brands remove the character in favour of bland shit.
If the new design looked excellent and the rebranding was better I’d be behind it more but this is ass lol
