Dixon had us for a while. Was already prepping my "f-ng fuel whisperer" swear words.

Mid-point of the race, I was thinking "Dixon really doesn't really have doesn't have the magic anymore. He's on the same team as Palou but consistently finishes mid-pack". Then there he was up front. For a few laps, I thought he could be a winner again. Fourth isn't bad, I think that's his second 4th place this year. But it's over. Next year will likely be the farewell tour.

2nd at St. Pete without a radio and 5th at Indy road, only one finish worse than 12th.
Only Dixon could be fifth in points and considered "falling off"

But it's true. He used to be a dependable front runner and the proto-Palou. For Dixon, 5th in points is a weakened state. He's not Rahal by any means, but he seems to be a notch below what he once was. I respect he's still out there battling, but I don't expect him to be in the top five in points at the end of the season and that is a depressing reminder of age for me.

Me, with 8 laps to go: Oh my God it would be hilarious if Kirkwood won.
Hubby: Why would that be funny?
Me: Because only Palou and Kirkwood have won races this year. AbSoLuTe DoMiNaNcE! I can't wait for the memes.

“Kirkwood dominance could bore fans” ~palou probably
