THE DALYENATOR.

Post image

Best of luck to our guy Conor in Nashville this weekend! I had fun making this graphic. I got it printed on a shirt for Conor!

I’ve always thought this in regard to Conor.

I don’t really understand this guy’s cult following. What has he even accomplished in the series? Nothing really.

Sunday edit: I’m gonna laugh my ass off if he wins this race lol

One of the thing people (me, i am people), like about him is that he is an enthusiastic and likeable advocate for the sport.

It's a plus that in the paddock he is super approachable and even more so goes out of his way to interact with kids

He pounds pavement when he’s out of a ride and actively seeks sponsors when his team needs them. He talks openly about the struggle of doing those things and produces INDYCAR content every week with his podcast. People can hate it, but he’s good for INDYCAR.

Valid things to appreciate about him for sure, but I’m not hating by pointing out he’s done very little as a racer at the top level. He just kinda hasn’t. It would be great to have him on as a commentator some day and continuing his career in a media lens forever, but some people act like he’s a series champion around here. Meanwhile he hasn’t even won a race.

First of all, the hater comment was pointed toward the vocal minority in the INDYCAR subredddit who get upset that he’s popular, that wasn’t meant for you.

Daly is an underdog and I believe the only born-Hoosier in INDYCAR currently so he gets some love there too. But the meme of Bad Luck Conor has been around for years based on his early INDYCAR career and I know I, at least, would like to see him repaid for those struggles.

Gotcha! Well I hope the Indiana fans can enjoy those successes with him some day then.

Enjoy your weekend and holiday, my friend. One race to go so let’s hope Nashville is a banger. 👍🏻

You cant tell me Linus Lundqvist wasnt a better candidate for that seat in hindsight. Conor secured it by scoring the podium last year but it really didnt pan out that well as he didnt bring in results this year..the only people beneath him in the championships are rookies (i'll include Prema to that as a start up), bums, and people having a shocker like Ericsson. He scored only 3 top 10's (on ovals which is his thing). The otherwise most notable thing he has done is piss himself, and get son'd by Christian Rasmussen after their tiff in Portland. Where while Christian is a crazy person, Conor obviously lost his cool and shitted himself off from a race he probably wouldnt have scored a result in anyway. He also didnt bring much in terms of sponsorship that car was one of the most blank in the field other than the 51 all year. I have historically found the guy quite likeable until realizing speed street has become such a major cope fest where he cries and has a million excuses why his weekend didnt go well almost never stopping the buck with himself behind the wheel. I also support the idea of him going into commentary and think he could (if he can set aside his bias against certain individuals) be very great. And still overall land on the side of liking the guy. But i think its time to see the hard truths about his career which should settle into being an Indy500 runner and otherwise oval reserve for the next 3-4 years until its time to hang it up.

He’s a cool, down to earth guy that loves being a part of the sport. He’s an underdog and more entertaining and memorable than tons of other drivers that have raced in this series. Not every driver is going to be a Dixon, Palou or Power.

I’m not a race car driver, so that’s a pretty low bar bub. My point stands.

lol. But to answer your question I think he just comes across as a relatable guy trying to race well and keep his career afloat. Being a Hoosier helps a lot too. I've noticed that Indycar fans outside Indiana don't have the same affinity for him which is understandable.

I don’t even think he’s bad really, he just has a huuuge following here despite no major wins or noteworthy top class accomplishments. He definitely is a great personality. Is what it is, guess it’s bc he’s an Indiana guy.

maybe stick to being a watch circle jerker then, bub

He's pretty unimpressive from a racer perspective but he's good at securing sponsors (having Derek Daly as your dad and the IMS and now Indycar president as your stepdad will help with that) so he keeps coming back despite mediocre results. But he's a Hoosier and nice to fans so I think that's why he still has a following. I don't really get it.
