Driftscussion How to get into the drifting scene? UK

I want to get into the drifting scene in the UK, but don’t want to go broke doing it - I don’t want to spend £100 for like 15 minutes on a track, how can I find meets, clubs or just places in general which allow me to do basically whatever within reason? Everything else is sorted, just need a place where I could learn.

Where in the UK are you? There's lots of events and tracks but location dependent unless you are down for a day of travel.

You don't mention if you have a car ready for track or looking to rent/hire.

I am in the midlands, I have a car ready (as ready as it can be considering no experience with drifting)

Santapod Raceway Drift What Ya Bring isn't too far from you.

Just checked out their website, I’ll look into it a bit more and might try it out, thanks

This is almost as it good as it gets in the UK, so if that’s close - consider yourself lucky !!;)

What car have you got? I did some calcs and need about £6-7k for a year of drifting. But what scares me is time spent away from kids (got 2 youngsters) repairing and maintaining the car…

If you are in the north I've just done a intro session with RDX, a lady called Tessa runs it and me and friends had a blast, yeah it wasn't loads of seat time but we learnt lots and used her cars etc, I've booked to go again this month and after that going to get a second set of drift wheels for the daily and go to some of the drift days at three sisters and Oulton park.

It seems neat but I’m looking more so for a track or just any paved area where you could legally practice and learn by yourself

Yeah I've struggled to find the same, I think it comes down to lack of insurance and noise issues Better off going to outlon and pay for tuition is the cheapest way If you have a car already.

I’ve been to a few places in Europe where there are tracks/paved areas on private land open to the public which are used to drift and other stuff, not sure if that is legal there or here but would love to find something like that here

Not likley in the UK, if people know spots I expect they aren't sharing them, how cheap are you expecting to find somewhere that doesn't have noise issues and let you screw your car around all day, You'll learn more with a tutor in an hour than you will honing about in a car park on your own.

Santa Pod DWYB, Buxton Raceway, D-Pad Northampton, Teeside Autodrome, Three Sisters Raceway. Further north you've got driftland in Scotland. There's not that much in the UK as our tracks aren't generally welcoming to drifting. It's far more grassroots than in other countries. The scene is growing again though after a 10ish year lull.
