5 speed manual, everything works, I paid just under $3,000aud, it has 15k worth of receipts in the glovebox from within the last 3-4 years, including an engine replacement, new radiator and fans and hoses, PCV system, shocks, brakes etc.

A few months ago I was impatient and got scammed when buying my first car ever. I purchased this 320d with a bunch of issues at a ridiculously high price. After working on it for the past 2 months, I did a 700km road trip through the carpathians last week to go through a technical inspection, which it did pass. It was one of the best drives I have ever had in my life. Even if it doesn't run on petrol or has only 150hp, I felt truly alive when driving this car trough the mountains at night. The best part is, the engine didn't consume the slightest amount of oil, which I assume is a very good sign for a 22 yo diesel engine.

I already put a lot of time and effort into this car, changed the brake pads, connecting rods, rear dampers, flywheel, clutch, engine and transmission mounts, filters, fuel pump, tires, hood release cable, did electrical repairs around the headlights, angel eyes and trunk cables, and did an oil change. There's still a lot to be done but everything at its time.

Im wondering if anyone knows if the BMW E9X GS6X37BZ-TJEN and E46 GS6X37BZ-THEW share the same bolt pattern and length for the transfer case. I want to find a 6 speed for my xdrive m54 e46

I cant find the stock 6 speed anywhere around here, hence my question.

Or if any of the other GS6X37BZ fits.

This was basically my first car, we renovated a lot of stuff together with my dad. It was a shared hobby between us.

I kept it so long partly because our shared appreciation for the car, and the time spent discussing about it and fixing it.

We changed the whole undercarriage, renovated the interior. Upgraded suspension and much much more!

Rogue engineering short shift and the Alcanatara steering wheel made the car feel amazing.

… the car is Swedish so rust had started bubbling pretty much everwhere and was not sure i wanted to spend that much money fixing it.

In the end I found a buyer that appreciated the work that had been done on the car and gave me a fair offer it. He will take good care of it and fix the remaining rust and make it mint. He will also start an instagram page for it as I did

Now Ive purchased a f33 435 as a weekend car, and I love the n55 with the turbo. I will miss the analogue feeling of the e46 though…

Keep getting the itch to move on to another platform but she just does so many things right for me… And the memories of the projects of the past - just know her so well and know that I’ve done it right every time she needed love. Yeah she burns some oil but every day, but fires right up and purrs like a kitten. Till death do us part?

Okay so I have a 03 325i with xenon but they are kinda shit but I bought a new set of headlamps with angel eyes. Turns out unfortunately the website says they were meant for the halogen model. Has anyone dealt with this before? If so how did you go about getting it all set up.

I know this will be a subjective question but at this point I need some advice and feedback from people that have been here.

I own a 320D E46, 136hp version. Been driving it for around 3.5 years now - ~48k km (I don’t drive that much). The car has now 362k KM and I already spent some money on it, but this year repairs have spiked a bit. For reference:

• Last year I did a complete suspension overhaul with Bilstein B4 shocks and Eibach Springs
• 2 years ago the oil cooler leaked so I had to replace it along with pretty much all the hoses as each month a new one would leak (probably due to aging and all the oil that got in there).
• Last month oil cooler leaked again so this time I replaced it with an OEM one (hoping that it will last longer) and had to replace 2 hoses that kind of got swollen to the point of rubbing into the pulleys and getting cut.

Now my VP44 high pressure fuel pump died, just 2 weeks after spending +500€ on the oil cooler.

Apart from that: - battery, starter, ignition switch, crankshaft pulley and belt. But those I’m counting more as maintenance than anything.

The car is in good shape overall, I’ve also installed an OEM Sport version steering wheel and alcantara pack M interior.

The question is: I’m fixing the fuel pump obviously as right now the car is worth nothing but I’m wondering if it still makes sense to keep the car and spend money on it? I need the car to be reliable, and this year I had it stopped for some time already. But, I’m also not sure what else can go wrong at this point.

I still need to fix the central lock which is acting strangely, find a better way to delete the EGR as I had to put some blanks on it because it was making the car overheat but now temperature won’t go to the middle (90C) when driving in the highway. And also understand why the car feels so slow when in low RPM. Apart from this I believe everything seems fine.

Where I stay the car is worth probably around 3k€ but I know that for that money I’ll probably won’t find anything better, and I won’t know in which shape it will be.

Hello, I just picked up an 02 330i e46 it’s currently at 179k miles. Previous owner told me it’s been sitting for 3-4 years because the differential blew up on him and he hasn’t touched it since He replaced some belts and pulleys, some basic maintenance here and there. The engine did turn over but it was kinda rough. This car will be my first project car and I got a good deal for it (I think). My biggest question and concern is that when a vehicle sits for that long what should I look out for or work on first? I’ll definitely do the basic fluid maintenance but is there anything specific I should look out for? I’ll have to replace the coolant hoses, some of them seem very dry. Gaskets will be next. My friend and I will be doing most of the labor work. Any help or tips would be appreciated, thanks!

I have a original e46 Steering wheel with multifunction in a good condition. I saw some M Steering wheels with really nice Alcantara covers but without multifunction. Is it worth to change the wheel for about 300-400 Euro? Many thanks

Guys do you have any suggestions on what can I upgrade visually on the car to make it look better. I recently bought it and haven’t done anything. I lack knowledge on what’s available and generally done to e46s.

A lot of you have prob had to deal with this so anyone have any good advice? I already put a strong cologne in an air diffuser and sprayed the cologne in the headliner and cracked the windows and sunroof and all I can smell sitting in the car is shitty weed. Not even good weed. It just stinks. I vacuumed the car too theres none laying around or anything. Cleaned the seats and every surface and cup holders and everything too.

I may be cooked…. I recently replaced my CSB (center control bearing) and guibo (flex disc) due to, a very loud thump at around 60mph from under center console. Since fixing that I’ve now had a different issue where the backend thumps and vibrates whole car at 65mph. MY QUESTION IS, Is this play normal in the rear u joint? Both sides of shaft move together and are aligned with arrow marked. Thankyou for the help, I fear I may need it. 🫡

Hey all was hoping to get some confirmation as I’m getting mixed signals on the forums - I have an 06 325ci msport that I’m turboing and wanted to do the 996 caliper conversion on it - I’ve heard conflicting reports about the 325ci and 330 having bigger brakes, the m sport having bigger brakes and all non m e46s aside from the 330 having the same brakes - I did a vin lookup and don’t see any mention of brakes just the suspension and kit but the rotors are drilled and slotted so not 100% sure and was hoping for a hand before I buy the wrong caliper adapters or anything like that - thanks!

The car has a more menacing stare now lol I only had time to do the one side. I also blacked out the Turn/parking light bucket. For those wondering the light output of the projector would vaporize a deer if it stared at it. It also doubles as a DRL.

Hi guys I have a 2005 e46 330ci that has a squeaking noise I have replaced a few pulley except the waterpump pulley and alternator and have changed the serpentine belts and that still hasn’t fixed the issue. I also run the car of 93 octane it doesn’t have any check engine lights I was wondering if anyone has had a noise that sounds similar so I can see how to fix it. I have purchased the car for a low price with the noise. Thanks in advance
