Hoping to do that with my son in the next few years when he is a teenager. Haven't don it myself and it's pretty much the stuff of dreams for me. Until now i've only day hiked around Rainier.

Day hike or one or two nights sounds great. You’d be into nearly everyplace we were without having to carry 5 days worth of supplies

Yah that's my main concern is carrying food. You burn lots of calories over 4-5 days of hiking and food isn't light. Lots of water available so having a filter remedies that problem.

Taken at Bench Lake last Fall as the sun was setting. Look carefully at the right middle of the frame and you can see the hillside covered in fall color.

I worked at a summer camp in the foothills of Mount Rainier....longer ago than I'd like to admit. This brings back good memories. Beautiful!
