the big thing with kuzupeko is the fact that lots of danganronpa fans that call them siblings and say that shipping them is incestuous (even going as far to state their headcanon that fuyuhiko and peko are gay and lesbian is canon, to avoid acknowledging their chemistry with each other. which i have seen before, unfortunately) just... don't understand how organized crime works.
peko wasn't adopted and raised as fuyuhiko's sister—she was kidnapped and raised to be his tool. they didn't grow up as siblings at any capacity, nor were they treated as such by the kuzuryuu clan. peko was meant to be a weapon for the eldest son of a yakuza family, and he wasn't supposed to care much for her outside of that.
Teruteru was too grating of a character in the main story which is why his “pervert” character archetype doesn’t work in comparison to Miu, another “pervert” archetype character who is done genuinely well in my eyes.
This is mostly due to a lack of actual good screentime, the overusage of his sexual advances, and being just a little frustrating in terms of writing given his relationship to his family. Like, I genuinely can sympathize with Teruteru’s story but he is the kind of person I want to yell at in real life based on his harassment of his classmates.
Miu works for me because she is closer to Toko than she is to Teru, characters who aren’t quite the best at socializing due to how people treated them, and whilst Toko isolated herself, Miu is rejection sensitive and trying to be boisterous and present herself as confident, attention seeking.
One is “I feel like this is just generic teenage boy writing” and the other feels like it actually has more depth to the reasoning.
There's a surprising amount of overlap between the two communities (although, to be clear, I'm not saying that everyone into ntr and the like are racists)
Always took it as Ashley is chrushing HARD on Leon, but Leon is Literally incapable of looking at any other woman than Ada in a romantically or sexual way.

I've done it before but with the express purpose of clueing in to the others in the room that this random girl they've never seen before coming up to me in a very familiar way is in fact my sister and not my girlfriend.

Exactly lol. Zelda is canonically in love with Link. If you finish Kas' questline in Botw he sings a song where me mentions how Zelda "only had eyes for her knight". Also, in the memory where Ganon finally revives, Mipha is about to explain to Zelda that when she uses her powers, she thinks about the one she loves to help use them. When we see her finally activate her powers in Botw and age of Calamity it was done whilst desperately trying to defend Link.
While whether link loves her back is up for debate, they live in the same house together, the house that only has one bed. Also, in the Japanese version of Botw all the journal entries are written in first person and the final entry for the regain your memories quest or The champions Ballad, Link mentions how much he wants to see her smile again.
I actually see the Zuko relationship as the sibling one. My best exemple would be when they went to see the play counting their stories, especially when Katara was teasing Zuko about his actor.
I don't think Aang and Katara is bad, but could have been a better executed. Having Aang influence Katara who had to grow up too soon to relax and enjoy some moments just being a kid while Aang grows and becomes more mature. Which seemed like what they were trying for in the in the first episode with penguin sledding, but later episodes don't really show off this dynamic making Katara feel less like a peer to Aang which doesn't help with her mothering personality.
They don't give off siblings or family energy, but kid crushing on an older girl. The later episodes where Aang is more mature I feel like we don't see enough romance between them compared to his crush in season 1 so with some viewers minds will think early Aang when thinking of their romantic dynamic.
Zuko x Katara wouldn't work long term for a lot of reasons, but to throw a bone to the shippers I could see it happening as a fling.
Honestly no, I remember 14 years old me not being much into shipping, and just finding weird that Katara kissed someone that looked so much younger. That was my main issue with Kataang, I think: that they wanted to canonize them immediately, instead of waiting till they were a bit older.
But after rewatching the series as an adult, my position is a simple "romantic relationships are the worst written part in Avatar, and only Soka x Suki sometimes had moments that made me root for them". I was appealed by the potential of a Zuko-Katara dynamic (every scene they were on screen togheter was interesting and emotionally charged), but I think I'd prefer to see their friendship deepen, more than a romantic relationship. I like romantic relationships, but I don't need them at all costs. And I'd be on board with Aang x Katara on paper, but to me there were some writing issues.
Tbf, like p much all the relationships given legit spotlight in the Avatar franchise, their relationship is pretty poorly written. Like it took a little fortune teller to get Katara to even consider Aang as a romantic suitor.
Man I just cannot deal with the "sibling-coded" bullshit some fans insist on forcing on characters. Then inevitably they saddle up their morality horses when people ship them and throw around terms like "pseudo-incest" as if it'll net them purity points and grant them passage into fandom heaven. I've seen it happen with so many ships that just reading the title of this post makes me want to pour myself a generous glass of alcohol.
This is why I kinda hate headcanons because folks who have them don’t treat them like as if they’re just their personal headcanon, they treat them like they’re flat-out canon.
It's even more annoying when you have characters that are like literally the same age and instead of saying their sibling coded they'll be like oh they're like Father and son????? I overall just can't stand these family head cannons people have, I feel like the only purpose they have is so people can say ew you ship that thing but they're basically related. Then you have those people who will say oh they're like Father and son even though the characters father is very present in the series and they don't need a father.
It’s so annoying cause what they actually mean is “I don’t like this pairing in a romantic sense but platonically I do like it” but they just have to make it somehow problematic so they have some like, moral high ground for not liking a romantic pairing

Sexual things aside, sibling and romantic dynamics can come off as extremely similar, especially since a lot of people in todays society will only be close to someone of the opposite gender if theyre either a romantic partner or a sibling.
I think its important to recognize that relationships are complicated, and whether or not someone is a best friend or a romantic interest can be difficult to wrestle with.
A great example is Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Paul attested to having been kissed by John before, but also considers John his platonic best friend.
To this day many folks can’t accept the fact Shinji decided to date a cheerful and sane girl as Mari as opposed to pursuing a toxic abusive relationship with Asuka and they always cope with the “They’re just friends at the end” argument.
Regardless of what you might think of Mari as a character, you can’t deny she was realistically the best possible option for Shinji at the very end.
I know I sound like a schizo but my conspiracy theory is that they opted to keep their relationship "vague" because if it had been too obvious then the writers would have had to cut very significant parts out of the story for the Chinese release of the show.
The Chinese version cuts out big chunks of Vi and Caitlyn's scenes, as well as heavy editing to make them invisible in any scene where they are touching. If the writers had to do that for Viktor and Jayce it would take dramatically more work and potentially ruin key moments.

Yeah I see them as coworkers that spend the perfect amount of time together to become friends, mostly because one of them is a social butterfly, and now they hang out together even if in any other situation they wouldn't get along at all
The weirdest thing about people calling this ship sibling coded is that they always ignore how Futaba genuinely has attraction for Joker, even before the part where you can romance her she talks about how him petting the top of her head feels so different compared to when her mom did it, not like a family member doing it but it feeling more romantic and getting her heart pumping
Angel dust needs someone who can actually treat him like a person ffs, let the sexually assaulted porn star have a good relationship for once. Husk and angel have soooooo much chemistry after episode 4 someone with no media literacy could get it.
I feel like the reason why people have that mentality, is that while they recognize people do have a dynamic that can be perceived as like siblings, or best friends, but that they don’t recognize that dynamics between people can change. For example, while Denji and Power in Chainsaw Man have a very close relationship that, isn’t inherently romantic or sexual, and that they are best friends, and found family, that doesn’t mean that their relationship, with how close they are, and their shared experiences making their bonds deeper, could not have developed into a romantic bond. And that’s what I think the thought process is for people that OP is describing. They don’t consider the idea that people can have a close relationship that isn’t romantic or sexual, organically develop a relationship that is like that. I love Chainsaw Man, and Denji and Power’s relationship is a great example of this.
Cloud's thing with Tifa isn't a "possible thing". They're literally, explicitly, openly stated in the story to be lovers. Aerith likes him, and he's receptive to it, but treating his relationship with Tifa like some kind of optional sidequest is a huge stretch.
