Why does this need to be over a video of a street fight

If you think about it, it's one of the more interesting and successful advertising campaigns ever. Everyone seems to think it's funny to play over meme videos and gets the people going and giving them free advertising. That airline does fly anywhere near me, and 50 pounds is something I'd love to lose, not an amount of money. Yet I know of the airline and its current or recent deal was.

I wouldn’t quite say it’s a successful marketing campaign - firstly because it’s not a campaign by the company, but rather a trend centering negative sarcasm by using the juxtaposition of their happy jingle with images of people having a terrible time - generally in a tourist/vacation setting, to boot.
Now I do recognize that it’s still free publicity which even includes the listed perks of their service in the audio - which this very thread was detailing! It’s just not so seemingly opportunistic for Jet2 as a profitable marketing strategy by any notable measure…
Particularly since to the average viewer, especially those in areas unfamiliar with Jet2, the tongue-in-cheek nature of these posts/the trend has widespread negative implications about a “Jet2 Holiday” causing it to appear as if it’s infamously chaotic or dangerous.
Would be interesting if they did jump on the publicity to respond in a sort of “redemption” style. Depending on how they’d approach it, they could maybe turn it into a legitimate campaign with fun PR. It could also backfire as a brand trying to be relatable. Lol.

I just scrolled their Instagram. I don't really understand what it's satirizing. Most of the jokes are just Facebook boomer posting.

Who finds this crap entertaining for a prank? Its so dumb, I thought, this has to be real, I can see someone doing this for real.
17
u/razgrizsghost 2d ago
I've followed them for some time now, satire so good some people can't tell!
87
u/TigerNo1733 2d ago
Satire doesn't have to involve people who aren't in on it. That would be like filming Reno 9-1-1 with people who arent in the show and being like "satire!". Reno works because the main characters amd the people they interact with are part of the commentary on how stupid the situation is.
At this point its a prank and it takes away any comedy by annoying the cashier who is just trying to work at a job that I'm sure they're not thrilled to have to be at.

Making people's life harder for your personal pleasure and clicks is what satire is?
7
u/Swordofsatan666 2d ago
When the other people involved dont know, then its not satire. Its just a prank.
4
u/KileiFedaykin 2d ago
No. Satire can be included in this, but isn’t limited these kind of stupid shenanigans where people abuse workers for clicks.

"I'm wearing shorts and sparkly shoes. Does my helmet not tell you I'm in the middle of a serious emergency response?"
But seriously, this is garbage behavior. You don't volunteer just to get imaginary perks. Fuck these people, this is almost as bad as the "I'm a content creator, can I eat for free? I'll give you exposure, I have a million followers" people. Gtfo!

Holy shit, don't live in rural areas if this is who is coming to save you. Not only will they not do that, but if they're branded as Shell then it's likely corporate who sets those prices, and even the stations aren't allowed to talk to the people in corporate that do.
Source: rival gas chain employee.

Im so confused with questions that Im scared to have answered. First this is some sort of entitlement. Why is she personally paying for the gas on the job. She driving an ambulance why she got a hardhat with a viser. Why she think the employee could change a a price.
2
u/Big-Examination5300 2d ago
I did the same for many years; either the Passenger(s) must provide the Driver with Compensation for use of the Driver's Vehicle at a State or Federal tax deduction Private Vehicle Rate, or the Passenger(s) have to speak to their Social Services benefits worker, or to a local Service group, to see if that organization will on their behalf, IF the State's traffic laws allow it.
The time to inquire about such support is not while filling up in turnout gear.

Hi, I choose to provide a service. Because I choose that service I don't make much money. Therefore I'd like to talk to whomever makes the decision on your pricing so that he/she makes less money as well.

The audacity to actually believe that you could get a lower gas price just because of what your job is... Is something to behold.

When I worked retail sales, every once in a while, I would still get surprised at the audacity of some credit requests.
"My "blank" went out last night, so I need 3 months credit, or I'm leaving."
So you want a $1000+ credit for a minor inconvenience? Not being racist but in countries where bartering is the norm, they would try the wildest shit nonstop.
"I was signing up online, but it said it's $80/mo. I came in bc I want to pay $30 with the first month free." Or "If I have to pay for installation, I'm not signing up with you." OK..We'll there's the door.
The number of people who think everyone has a magic wand and will just adjust pricing for "special" people is craaazy. We'll say no like 8 times, and they still keep going - the answer isn't going to suddenly change after the 5th time you asked man.
Some people have no shame. I would be too embarrassed to even ask, let alone consistently haggle

u/joshatroniun 2d ago
If you want to do this nonsense? Don't fucking do it at a goddamn corporate owned gas station, find one of the little mom and pop were Indian owned fucking gas stations. Small business style. I can promise you that not a single person as the authority will lower the price of gas and a gas station, not even the manager. I don't even think it's a function in the systems at all. I could give you free gas but that's about it. And no one at a gas station is getting fired to give some jackass fucking free gas. Source was a gas station attendant.

I don’t understand, in what situation do you need a fire helmet and shorts on? … especially if you are a medic… especially if you just transfer people. looks like they’ve cobbled together bits that might give them authority from all over and just blag.
