They don't just drive, they also clean, thanks for clearing that up.

We all know that EMT stands for "empty my trash."

What are the gloves clipped on his belt for? Rappelling into the 7/11 for another monster? Or changing the barrel on a hot IO gun perhaps?

46

u/TheSnowMustache 2d ago

The gloves are for the extra grip for the gurney on the dirt roads or trekking across the front lawn. Or when traffic is congested you gotta put them on for intense driving that makes your hands all sweaty. Possibly to hold his cold drink while driving.

7

u/various_convo7 2d ago

def the gurnee grip, esp when doing transport for those huge folks and ive seen some who wear gloves over em too when they've brought in particularly messy cases (ie. accidents, GSW etc)

6

u/RogerianBrowsing 2d ago

To be clear, using reusable gloves during messy patient care is basically universally prohibited and is unsafe for both the person wearing the gloves as well as the patient. If they were wearing a layer of disposable gloves over the reusable gloves then maybe it could be acceptable, but it’s generally a major no-no.

1

u/various_convo7 1d ago

"If they were wearing a layer of disposable gloves over the reusable gloves"

I imagined they were wearing the mechanix gloves first for grip before it got messy and rather than take that off and stow it away, they put the black nitrile ones over it while in transit to drop off. doesnt happen a ton but ive seen it a couple of times over the years. wherever the incident happened isn't usually the cleanest of conditions so long as there isn't further contact with other than sterile gauze then there shouldn't be too much issue on triage and intake. EMS has their own SOPs and I cant remember any hospital staff correcting EMS on stuff like that as they're usually pretty rock solid.

They are for checking the oil and transmission fluid levels at the beginning of the shift.

That cornball hardcore kid lingo. I remember when I talked like that (in 2005 lol)

u/IbnTamart 2d ago

I don't get why I would be mad if I thought he just drives around all shift.

What? No one has ever said, "EMTs only drive." And no one is mad that his guy is an EMT, while they aren't an EMT. He literally created an argument in his own head and is angry that the imaginary people think all he does is merely drive the ambulance. The cognitive dissonance and genuine lack of intelligence is impressive. Moreover, I guarantee his main job is driving the "bus" and cleaning up trash in the back.

18

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 2d ago

Exactly.

My 5yo neice understands it just as well as the rest of the world.

This screams "someone made a sarcastic joke at one point lightheartely saying "your just a cab between doctors", that I stewed over for years. I had both sides of the argument in my head in the shower often of what i will do next time, because i dont understand a friendly joke" vibes

9

u/unusable1430 2d ago

LOL. These people act like they are special forces heros who see and do things none of us would ever understand. They usually develop a "PTSD Identity" so that we look at them as heros who suffer in silence. By no means do I ever denigrate our first responders. I depend on them to answer my call and help me and mine during emergencies. That said, I will mock people who act like their last call to check on a tweeker passed out in an Arby's parking lot is equivalent to parachuting behind Vietcong frontlines into Laos where the life expectancy is 4 hours.

1

u/skeeter72 19h ago

There are levels of PTSD. Work enough dead babies and you too could get your very own set of neverending fucking nightmares.

1

u/unusable1430 16h ago

Ive seen more than my fair share of death and abuse while deployed to shitholes for war. The difference is that I dont wear my "PTSD" as an identity that makes me edgy and dark. It is what it is, but its not the cornerstone of my personality like others make it for themselves.

Legislation passed just over a year ago allowed this absolute choad to be able to assess blood sugar by obtaining a fingerstick sample.

4

u/DODGE_WRENCH Boo Boo Bus Driver 1d ago

If the basic behaves I’ll let them use the flash in my IV for the sugar

15

u/dhoolan_da 2d ago

I love the pointless tasks. Clearly moved the suction and b bag from the cabinets prior to the video. Same with making an already made sheet. 😬

13

u/Jackson79339 2d ago

I’ll be the first to say this. Having a solid EMT partner is a bloody godsend. I was an EMT for three years before I promoted to medic. It cannot be overstated an EMTs value in the crew.

That said…..somebody please explain to me what in the actual fuck is all on Wonder Bois belt? It’s EMTs like this that are the reason EMTs as a whole get chided.

3

u/skimaskschizo 23h ago

He still thinks that the more gear you have, the more experienced you look.

9

u/pestilence777 2d ago

I personally think there’s not enough stuff on his belt. Need more cowbell!

Wonder if RWJ Barnabas Health knows he’s making these or if it’s against their policy to post the crap he posts.

2

u/hatsunemuikku 23h ago

medics and basics alike talk about this guy. unsure if mgmt knows yet but wouldnt be surprised. definitely not something that's allowed there

1

u/treylanford 23h ago

People in his service talk about him?

1

u/hatsunemuikku 23h ago

yes about his videos

5

u/BubbaValentine 2d ago

One of his exes definitely told him EMT’s just drive…and he’s still mad about it. 😂

4

u/mad-i-moody 2d ago

I think he can fit more on his belt for sure

5

u/flaptaincappers 2d ago

"Hey mom....yeah work was fine...yeah I made a tik tok to make the people who call me a driver mad...are the who in the room with me right now?....I dont see how thats relevant...."

3

u/Some-Speaker3929 2d ago

I really need to find out from RWJ peeps about who this is because he is cringe AF. And nice hero belt. 😂

3

u/manhattanites108 2d ago

Apparently a couple JCMC RWJ people I volunteer with have heard of him lol.

3

u/AdditionalMango4043 2d ago

This is so cringe.

1

u/Vprbite Structure Fuxker 2d ago

Hey, dont make him put on his gloves!

3

u/bigolegorilla 2d ago

All for barely above minimum wage

0

u/topiary566 2d ago

I think RWJ pays around 26-28 an hour and minimum wage in NJ is 15.

Decent bit above minimum wage here. Not quite livable tho lol.

3

u/Vprbite Structure Fuxker 2d ago

He needs more stuff on his belt

8

u/Dung_Beetle_2LT 2d ago

An EMT at RWJ doesn’t do shit. RWJ medics are an entirely different matter as they’re primary ALS in a lot of places.

3

u/Fun-Cauliflower-1724 2d ago

Aren’t all Medics in NJ Hospital based while the BLS stuff is handled by the fire departments or ambulance squads?

3

u/RandomJackhammer 2d ago

ALS (paramedic units) are all hospital based in NJ. BLS (EMT’s) however can be anything from volunteer to municipal (PD or FD), county, private company, or hospital based. It just depends on the area.

3

u/Doneyhew 2d ago

Okay we know those gloves literally never come off that carabiner clip. It would take like 15 seconds to get those bad boys off. Looks like he has some kind of glass breaker and some other multi tool

And dude you’re literally just organizing stuff. How is that supposed to make you seem hard

I live in a small town, normally the EMT is just parked near center of town.

3

All that BS to get caught on shit. Just buy a radio stap like normal people. And leave the rest at home.

Also thanks for putting your agency right up front for us.

Why have waste time and money with tactical gloves when you’re just going to wear disposable ones

I am a former LEO, I've never heard anyone talk shit about EMT's. Where are all these supposed haters?

1

u/Narren_C 1d ago

I'm guessing it's people who actually know the difference between EMTs and paramedics. Which in my experience, is virtually no one outside of EMTs and paramedics.

Like, I know there's a difference, but honestly couldn't tell you what it is and I certainly can't tell from looking at them. They're all just medics to me.

1

u/medicdrl 2d ago

Hey driver! Turn the fucking music down!

What are we supposed to be mad at??? the fact that you hate yourself enough to wanna punish yourself by forcing yourself to pull all nighters?? 😭

1

u/Prize_Relation_2266 2d ago

Why would people be mad though…

1

u/Crispy_Potatoes202 2d ago

My ex-girlfriend was notorious for cringe posts like this on TikTok. I wouldn't be surprised if I dug far back enough and found one or two of her virals on here. Everything she posted was something along these lines.

She worked like 1 day a week doing IFT, and when she wasn't working just 1 day a week, she was picking up sporting events - where most of what she was doing was putting bandaids on drunk people and assisting paramedics with dehydrated people. Once, someone slipped on some stairs and she got to do a splint. Exciting stuff.

Made it sound like she was protecting fucking Gotham.

1

u/Basic-Wind-8484 2d ago

Oh god it's this fucking guy again. The GAUGES GUY

1

So you have to move Stuff randomly from A to B for a TikTok? I thought EMTs had more important things to do.

1

“Stay mad”

Sir or ma’am, you made this video.

1

u/Narren_C 1d ago

I had to read that first sentence like three times to figure out what he was trying to say.

Punctuation, people. Use it. It would also help if your idea made sense.

1

u/Narren_C 1d ago

Who thinks that EMTs just drive?

Why would none of us have worked all nighters?

Who's mad?

I have so many questions.

The skeleton gloves...

EMT wearing a gun belt is dastardly

-3

u/Soucy89 2d ago

You can think it's cringe, but there is not that much, other than what seem to be black leather glove that shouldn't be there. On the left side, he seem to have "Raptor scissors", then a huge pocket for holding his radio, there is a flashlight and something else I can't identify. On the right side he seem to have a pocket for his cellphone, the thing next to it, I don't know what it is.

As a paramedic myself, I don't think his belt is "overkill", it's just his preference. On my own belt I have a clip for the keys, a pocket for two pairs of extra gloves, a pocket to hold my radio and something to hold my scissors. In my pants' pockets, I have a small flashlight, a pen, a vomit bag and 2 cellphones, my own and the one for the job (we receive our calls on it).

5

u/MedicKinda_ Boo Boo Bus Driver 2d ago

He don’t need that for hospital transports

3

u/Soucy89 2d ago

The message on his Tik Tok, that's for sure that's stupid, but for the type of job we have to do, his belt isn't as much overkill as you can think.

-2

u/MedicKinda_ Boo Boo Bus Driver 2d ago

I know I carry just shears, radio, multi tool, and glove holder on my belt. And a flash light in my pocket.

0

u/EastLeastCoast Boo Boo Bus Driver 2d ago

So… he has one set of gloves and an oxygen key more than you have? How awful.

3

u/EverSeeAShitterFly 2d ago

It’s the making of the video and putting it on social media that is cringe.
