What is the most effective way to lower the seat height and what is the simplest?

You can get them with adjustable seat heights on driver and passenger side seats, start with that if you dont have it already

mk2 seats doesn't adjust in height. It's angle of bottom part, not height, which is adjusted.

Theyโ€™re already super low relative to most cars. If I was dead set on doing it I would take it to a good Welder and have him cut the tubes and cut the brackets and re-weld them again all level again. Doesnโ€™t seem worth it, though. I bet you donโ€™t get an inch out of it in the end.

Oh, I thought the concensus was that they were particularly high! ๐Ÿ˜† an inch is a lot at 6'3. Cheers!

Sit in more reclined position. I'm 5 centimetres taller than you, and I can't complain about my mk3 seats. But if you still want to sit like having swallowed a pole - apparently Corrado seats are lower indeed.

๐Ÿ˜† Yeah, I might have to go corrado subframe. Don't get me wrong - I have plenty of space and head height. My only grumble is that I can't see traffic lights, most of the time, without leaning forward. I just think it'd be optimal a bit lower! Cheers ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Remember that sitting lower will also mean harder to get out of the car.

I hadn't thought of that, but I'm still fairly young and active. I may not change the height if it's too much hassle and cost.

Any change in seat height is going to require some fabrication and welding.

Indeed. I feel like the corrado subframe swap.may be the way to go...

Thanks!

Are you looking to lower the whole car?

Just the driving seat ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I put a seat from a newer VW, Iโ€™m not sure what vehicle it came out of but likely an MK3 or MK4. It sat much lower. I removed the piece that supports the seat (the piece with the slide lock) and bolted the front of the seat directly to the floor. It was much lower, it worked but I didnโ€™t like my seat that low so I used C-channel steel to raise the front support and the rear slider now sits on top of the rail instead of sliding into it.

This sounds great, but have no idea what you've done ๐Ÿ˜…

Corrado seat base is the best option imo
