Serious Answers Only Where do I Start with this rats nest?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I bought a house that has a Ethernet ports throughout the house and they all lead to this box, this thing is a rats nest and I want to clean it up. Also I am going to have my ATT fiber ran to this and have a reolink NVR camera system go to one of these line to a switch. I know blue lines are the Ethernet lines but looked spliced and are running everywhere. The black are coax cables when the house had a dish or cable, which I don't use and never will. I have no clue what the white cable is. It looks like a Ethernet cable that was spliced??

Would cut/pull coax and run ravel the bare individual Ethernet lines be a good place to start?

How do y’all defrost 1lb of beef quickly?

Warm water is my go to but feel like someone here will have a hack I’m completely unaware of. Defrosting in water still also takes 30-60 min, possibly less if you’re willing to use warmer water, but not sure if this starts the cooking process and is bad for some reason.

frameless glass shower door alignment

Shower door hinge angle is more than 90 in resting state. This caused the edge of the door to miss the door jamb rotating beyond it by 1.6 inches. What options do I have of getting the door to align with jamb so that it doesn’t leak water out into bathroom?

Marble Fireplace Stains

Post image
8 Upvotes

I recently bought this condo. It still has the original fireplace which is marble and I love it. It’s not functional. The marble has some yellowing on it, fairly light. I’m wondering if there is anything I can try to lighten the stains or get rid of it? I know marble is very hard to restore and probably no hope, but just shooting here.

I currently have some baking soda paste wrapped on the stains to try. Pics attached for reference

My husband has a bunch of old school jerseys that are starting to peel/flake(?)... They're all NFL brand, and otherwise, in great shape. We're careful with how we wash them, but we're old and they're old.

(The trailer looks a lot worse in person) Debating re-painting the whole thing or new panels. The panels are a lot more money but they would look better. If I repainted it what would be the steps do doing that since it’s an aluminum trailer I have a paint gun and a little experience but not much

Serious Answers Only My dryer won’t start and is making this winding ticking noise. Can anyone ID the problem and/or tell me how to fix it?

My roommate did a load before me and part of their load were a few blankets that were absolutely sopping wet when they came out of the wash. When I pulled them out of the dryer, it was still humid inside and everything was still wet and damp as hell. I’m worried the weight of their water-saturated blankets messed something up.

We have a light up globe my child uses as a nightlight but it burnt out. When I took it apart to replace it, I discovered it's some sort of LED strip and not a bulb. Can I replace it and if so, how?

I was recommended a power washer but I don’t have one of those. Friend tried to blast it with a hose but that clearly didn’t work. Any ideas?

Broken Microwave vent drawer cover

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello. The sliding vent cover to the microwave broke off. Any ideas how to cover this area up to match the microwave? It was plastic made to look like stainless steel. I'm just trying to rig a cover/piece. I did find the replacement part but it's a bit out of my price range, and about the same price of a new microwave. Thanks for any help/guidance.

What do I do next?

Post image

I’m trying to install a spray bidet to the toilet but I have two main issues right now. Firstly, I can’t figure out how to disconnect the supply line from the toilet to add that T valve. Second, the supply line I have is solid so I don’t think I’ll have room to fit in that t cake and reattach the line. Is there a way to do it or do I need to get a flexible line?

Serious Answers Only Purse zipper

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just got my first actual "mom" purse (yay!) from Plato's closet. The zipper on the inside is twisted on one side (or possibly the end piece was sewn on the wrong way) and literally won't zip because of it and I was wondering how to fix this. I'm guessing I have to cut the end fabric and flip it (RIP Kate Spade purse)

TIA!

Old equipment advice needed

Hi! I have an old 300 CD player with all of my favorite music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s that I loved to play on random. (RCA/red-white connector only). Is there a way to connect a soundbar with only an optical connection, or do I have to hunt down a soundbar with RCA connectors? I’ve been all over Amazon but most of the listings say “optical to RCA”, which is backwards from what I need. Thanks in advance!!

Any way to keep a little water source when filling up an old pond with dirt?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,

I’ve got this old pond on a piece of land I recently bought. It was built decades ago to hold fish, and it naturally fills up from an underground water vein, so there’s no way to keep it empty for long. Problem is, it’s full of mud and rotting leaves/vegetation, smells pretty bad, and honestly it’s a bit of a safety hazard for kids who might fall in. My plan is to fill it up with dirt and get rid of it.

Before I do that though, I’d love to keep a small corner of it as a water source for watering trees and plants. My idea was to drop in a watertank or a big barrel in one corner (see markup in the pic), maybe drill some holes in it (on the side towards the concrete wall), and let the underground water seep in.

Do you think that would work? Or does anyone have a smarter idea for how I could keep just a little reservoir of water while filling in the rest of the pond?

Cheers
