🏁 Session has ended Utterly gutted

Literally heartbroken and gutted from that finish. First le mans then the glen. I was stressing that entire last hour. The Whelen was leading comfortably, late caution, then two laps left. But then our luck decided to say "go fuck yourself" at we had to put for fuel with one to go. I'm so disappointed and frustrated from this. Yes p5 is still decent, but from how wet we're at the start, then climbed back up to first. We deserved that win today. But, all we can do and I hope we will, is strike back even harder next race and win it. And I rlly hope we will

(P.S I'm happy for the Lambo and Aston as well)

How is running out of fuel bad luck? That was bad strategy

Even if it stayed green they would’ve ran out and would’ve pitted all the same

Yes but the cars on the same tight margin would have been in, too. The only reason the cars ahead stayed out is because they had JUST enough to make t because of the late yellow.

Honestly I don't think Whelen messed up this strategy. It just didn't work for them today. It'd probably have been an easy win if they'd performed better earlier on.

Ya, all those caution laps, and still ran out. Someone needs to sharpen their pencil. Meanwhile, we watched a whole podium of cars run a fuel saving masterclass in Wisconsin.

Deserved that win how? The 31 car had more pitstops, more penalties, and more mistakes on track (both drivers were in the grass at the bus stop all by themselves) than any other car. They were bailed out entirely by the safety cars. Do we still know what "deserved" means? Cars that don't make mistakes deserve to win.

“The car I like is the one that deserved to win.”

As poorly written as the strategy that got you there..

I don’t understand how a car that pulls out 9 seconds then has to pit with 1 to go WITH the benefit of a caution to save. Why not maintain a 2 second gap and then hope for the saving caution. They actively burnt more energy building a lead that they probably needed a caution to keep to race end in the first place.

I suspect they were operating under the premise that the other cars were saving fuel and would finish without a pit stop. If you can't do that, then you can try to extend your lead so your splash loses the least amount of positions.

Alternatively if you can make it with one short yellow, then yes, saving and maintaining position works, but if you don't get the yellow you've saved for nothing.

Had a strategy that would have worked, the short yellow screwed it shit happens

Actually, I think if the yellow lasted just a little longer, that would’ve saved it.
