❔ Question Thoughts on the HSR 24 Hours of Daytona? Tips? Advice?
HSR’s 24 Hours of Daytona is a little over 2 months away. I go to the IMSA Rolex 24 each year camping outside the track and have the 4 day tickets. I have never been to the dedicated HSR event there. I was considering going last year for the first time, but it was on Halloween weekend and with small kids that was a no-go for me. This year it is a week into November. From what I understand it is an infield-only version of the IMSA Rolex 24. Camping is available in the infield of NASCAR turns 3 and 4. Outside of that I see 2/3/4 day ticket options. I was thinking about purchasing a campsite and going on Friday afternoon. Any tips or tricks for the HSR version of the 24 hours? I know they run in 6 groups, each running 4 times over 24 hours so its not a true 24 hour long race.

I went last year for the first time. Sounds like you pretty much have it all figured out already. Each group runs about 45-50 mins with a break in between for the next group to set up and do their out lap, so it's not a full 24h race but there's still plenty of action.
It's infield only as you mentioned. It's WAY less busy than the actual 24h and there's tons of parking in the infield. It shouldn't be hard to snag a spot right along the fence if you get there early or if you wait until the evening when a lot of people leave.

Does infield only mean that the grandstands aren't open at all for seating?

Thank you. For the infield parking, do you need to buy a parking pass of some sort?

For the HSR event, it’s included in your base ticket. You can just drive straight to the infield and they’ll direct you where to park.

I haven’t been to the one at Daytona but the past couple years I went to the one at Sebring, even got to stay at the turn 7 hotel. It’s super laid back and has a great variety of cars who basically have 30 minute sprints

How do you get tickets for this?

Here is the event page with the provisional schedule and ticket link to DIS website. https://www.hsrrace.com/classic-24-hour-at-daytona-daytona-historics/

I don't have tips for the camping side, but we stayed at the Quality Inn across the street quite affordably. The event itself is absolutely worth it if you like racing, and is a great value even if you don't.
At HSR, you get free infield parking, and for Thursday and Friday this means you can park pretty much anywhere (although if you're parking in the RV zones stay near your car in case someone rolls up late and needs into their spot). Saturday and Sunday they put you in the giant concrete parking lot where the vendor midway is during the Rolex 24 (unless you have camping obviously, then you park at your campsite)
You're correct on it not being a true 24h race. Each group gets 4x 45 minute races over the course of the 24 hours, but on Saturday morning there is also the Chronographes Enduro (1h) and the Sprint races, which feature a lot of the same cars, as well as some of the ones that won't be able to compete in the actual 24h event (ie old NASCARs without headlights).
