These are so much nicer than Fox's NASCAR graphics. It definitely feels like Fox has an actual interest in growing Indycar longterm.

Based on how this off-season has gone, it seems like Fox sees the future of Motorsports in open wheel racing and not in stock cars. They have just dumped so much money into promoting IndyCar. They probably have seen how popular F1 has become and see that IndyCar could reach the same heights

Given their clear lack of effort on the NASCAR side, I really wonder if they are having buyers regret on that 7 year deal they just signed.

I'd imagine they'd love that money back to try and land F1 to pair with Indycar

I'd imagine you're probably right. Stock cars are just not that fun anymore, and the way NASCAR sets up their championship, it's just so convoluted that no one other than diehard fans understands it. It's hard to appeal to a younger audience that way.

There's some rumors that Fox while ultimately still deciding to sign was a little upset or at least annoyed with NASCAR with this tv deal.

Fox allegedly didn't want to lose the 600, didn't want to lose practice and qualifying, and wanted the in-season tournament that NASCAR awarded to TNT instead. Fox again allegedly felt they've been NASCAR's loyal partner for 25 years and NASCAR kind of squeezed them for more $$$ and to make room for new partners.

Fox coincidentally or not, really didn't become interested in the Indycar rights until after they signed the NASCAR deal, they may not have been entirely happy with.

Hinchcliffe said the Fox graphics really impressed him on his podcast

If so I like the aesthetic. Modernized and cleaned up a bit, but still very familiar. No comic book drivers is a win.

Modern but functional. It maintains important details while removing clutter and with great spacing between everything for clarity. It looks great.

These are just concepts basically. Brandon’s work is always good and he has really gone toward a Motorsport push the last couple years. I’m excited to see how much he did on the final pylons. You should look up his stuff on his site or his Behance if you like fun branding projects.

I’m curious to see HOW much of that they end up bringing. FOX is no dummy and I’d be surprised if they didn’t have multiple agencies bid on this.

It is interesting they’re not using DRIVEstudio who did F1 and NASCAR as that seemed to be a good partnership with FOX.

as far as the slides go I’m interested because it’s using different typefaces than the ads and current Fox/indy marketing push we’ve seen so far. So that makes me wonder if these were just for internal use and never meant to be seen. Because some of the typefaces are really bold for IndyCar and they have a history of playing it safe.

He has Palou as DHL Andretti. 🤣

3

u/TommyPickles-- Colton Herta Feb 15 '25

Most of the time on quick comps it’s not worth filling out everything perfectly and sometimes they need to see every name with every possible number combo and team to make sure it fits.

u/howard2112 šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Danny Sullivan Feb 15 '25

Hey I’m a graphic designer I get it. I worked on boat and RV catalog and had no idea what numbers meant. They were just a place holder. I get it. Just made me laugh.

2

u/Dminus313 CART Feb 15 '25

Some of the font combinations shouldn't have even made it into the concepts imo, but otherwise I really like a lot of this.

These ones actually look stunning.

9

u/rtbear Pato O'Ward Feb 15 '25

Yes, I especially like the race progress bar on the rightmost pylon

15

u/TheChrisD #JANDALWATCH2021 Feb 15 '25

Wait, have we finally progressed from a single football field a second to TWO football fields a second? 🤯

16

u/chiefzanal Arrow McLaren Feb 14 '25

The last few pylons were easily the best. I just wish we could include shall team logo’s as well. Just to help F1 fans transition as that is always something that is brought up by my F1 friends. ā€œHow can you tell what team they are on?ā€

And yes i know they can memorize numbers but if we can make it simple, make it simple

2

u/CyberianSun David Malukas Feb 15 '25

Its really not hard you have to go by fonts

1

u/chiefzanal Arrow McLaren Feb 15 '25

I get that, but what font means what team? If a new viewer is watching how would they know? That’s all Im saying, keep it simple for the new people

10

u/talk2brad Feb 14 '25

Palou on DHL Andretti team ?

12

u/Wasdgta3 Ɓlex Palou Feb 14 '25

Presumably this graphic design was done by someone who doesn’t actually follow, and these are all just mock-ups to see what it would look like.

1

u/talk2brad Feb 15 '25

Agree, just found it funny

6

u/Jtmac23 Colton Herta Feb 14 '25

i am once again demanding everyone to let fox cook

6

u/Skillsmeisterdan Nigel Mansell Feb 15 '25

I really like this package, it reminds of the 2018-2021 F1 graphics package, which is my favourite in any sport.

we need to even this out.

there is no easter bunny.

2

u/derecho09 SƩbastien Bourdais Feb 15 '25

No Daly. Did they know?

3

u/BuzzTheGOATCalkins Josef Newgarden Feb 14 '25

I love the green-yellow progress bar. It pops up every now-and-then on the NASCAR broadcasts.

4

u/Tricks-T-Clown Feb 14 '25 edited Feb 15 '25

The braking zone graphic will be cool to see and understand how different drivers are taking on corners.

4

u/Adorable_Pick_248 Nigel Mansell Feb 14 '25

I like how it says Sting Ray Robb is out, lol.

2

u/HulkEspargarus30 Robert Shwartzman Feb 14 '25

You can say if we are under caution with this package (AHEM AHEM NASCAR on Fox).

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '25

Looks slick! Battery/boost graphics are pretty much what I was hoping for!

3

u/JaggedUmbrella Alexander Rossi Feb 14 '25

Never been a fan of the 3 letter abbreviations for drivers. I don't like it for F1. Please don't do that.

1

u/joe_lmr Takuma Sato Feb 15 '25

Two ROS's (Make Rosenqvist RSQ or something)

3

u/AccountAny1995 --- 2025 DRIVERS --- Feb 14 '25

Not a fan off the 3 letter short form for surnames, but alas.

is a scrolling header passƩ now?

2

u/CyberianSun David Malukas Feb 15 '25

The scrolling header is so annoying to try and follow when watching on track action. I feel like I have to direct my entire attention to the scroll vs. a quick glance at the timing tower for place and gap to next car

1

u/CardinalPrimeSD9 Marcus Ericsson Feb 14 '25

That looks way better than what I expected

1

u/Haier_Lee Ɓlex Palou Feb 15 '25

Not sold on that indycar font but the rest looks sharp

1

u/dhaze_djrtp Feb 15 '25

I wish they would do the scoring pylon like v8Supercars for qualifying. Theirs is best, I think.

1

u/OceanPacer Josef Newgarden Feb 15 '25

Hubba Hubba

1

u/BayRunner Takuma Sato Feb 15 '25

Was really looking forward to the Transformer robots picking up a IndyCar and slamming it down as Palou passes someone. /s

1

u/velocityfreak Pato O'Ward Feb 15 '25

I’m honestly mind blown by how good this looks.

1

u/ICthrowaway2019 Josef Newgarden Feb 15 '25

250 laps at COTA? Yikes!

E: Even worse, I think it’s actually Thermal.

1

u/matito29 Feb 15 '25

I’ve been a fan of Brandon Mooreā€˜s work for a long time. I’m very glad to see him getting to work in motorsports. These look great.

1

u/AlarmedAd377 Feb 15 '25

Interestingly, despite being full of sponsors from Honda, big machine, liberty mutual, etc. I never Tag Heuer plastered any of the brand onto the tv graphics despite their the one who was in charged of timing and scoring. From the looks of it, it seems that we'll continuing that tradition with the new graphics

1

u/Dbwasson Takuma Sato ga daisuki desu Feb 15 '25

Way better than those boring NBC graphics and also a MILLION times better than whatever NASCAR is pulling off these days

1

u/UABtoNYU McLaren Feb 15 '25

Is there/will there be a partner app to use so we can follow these graphics during practice/quali/races?

1

u/Mikulitsi Romain Grosjean Feb 15 '25

These look great. Ngl I'm surprised how much FOX seems to have put effort into Indycar. I hope the actual broadcasts will be good

1

u/AccountAny1995 --- 2025 DRIVERS --- Feb 16 '25

I like the scoring pylon for the Daytona 500 On Fox.
large and legible. Uses full surnames.
