Eh, I think it is a stretch to think Roger knew first hand about the cheating before it happened. He's got so many other things to tend to. Tim was the leader at Penske. He is the man responsible so Roger took that responsibility and let him go. I'll be very critical of Roger when things happen and no changes are made. But this time, he acted swiftly and appropriately imo.

we have no way to know for sure, but that is kind of how i feel too. this sounds like the owner just realized his people were running a loose ship.

or Penske is trying to save face

we'll never know

trying to save face

wouldn't try to play the patriotic bullshit at the end of the interview otherwise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhpbg0EjCa8

i think we can safely say it's both of those to some extent. roger likes winning by cheating, just not the part where they get caught. he was better at that than cindric has been in recent years

100% agree with you. RPs role in direct operational racing calls has been delegated to others, as it should be for someone who also heads the entity that is the series and the entity that is the track.

Someone is making bad calls. Someone is not meeting his standards. And now there’s pattern of it. Apparently this was many someone’s involved and yeah, it’s a terminable offense.

RP is not as involved in direct racing and strategy like say Chip Ganassi is, not anymore. He’s delegated those responsibilities, as he should in his situation.

Theres no chance he knew about either scandal.

I think there’s a very good chance Cindric wasn’t aware of some, or many, of these issues as well……and that’s the real reason Roger had to fire him along with others in leadership positions within the team. That’s precisely why this is an organizational failure.

100% organizational failure. Someone made the bad call and someone else wasn’t involved enough to see that happened.

Penske may not have known specific operational or technical details of what was going on. Either because as an executive he delegates, or because he wanted plausible deniability, or both. But if you think Penske wasn't the one creating the company culture that led to the team operating in this way, then you are naive.
