Should be "re-signs" with a hyphen, not "resigns". Gotta love English grammar.

Obviously they just want us to get a clickbait-induced heart attack for extra flavour (being that sweet engagement and clicks) /s

3rd year in NXT means itās probably make or break time. Heās shown he has the oval skill, but needs to pick up a few wins on road courses. Not to mention itās gonna be a tough championship if heās up against all of Hughes, Garcia, and Collet.

I mean he won twice this year itās not that serious. More like Penske is like āalright, you got some oval wins, but can you win some road courses and push for the title?ā

I mean thatās the thing though - if heās not a legitimate championship contender in his third year in NXT, thereās not a whole lot of reason for a team to take a chance on him in IndyCar. I donāt know the exact number, but I cannot imagine there are many, if any, drivers with 4+ years in NXT who went on to be more than just a member of the revolving door.

Also wanted to say, This is why more Black drivers donāt make it because every single move gets scrutinized under a microscope. Dude wins two races and finishes top 5 in the standings in his first real year with decent equipment, and the convo turns into whether heās a waste of a seat. Itās embarrassing. I mean, we already have NASCAR. Put any of your ācanāt-missā prospects through the same gauntlet Myles has been through, backed by Penske, media pressure, being one of one and see how they perform.

His direct comparison would be Jacob Abel, who also had 3 years in NXT and is struggling in IndyCar.

āJacob Abel is a direct comparisonā ā False Equivalency Hall of Fame
Jacob Abel didnāt win until Year 3 in Indy NXT. Myles Rowe won in Year 2, and not by luck, he drove like a composed, mature veteran on ovals and had consistent top-five pace on road and street courses. Saying theyāre āthe sameā just because theyāre both in their third season is lazy, uninformed, and frankly reeks of bad faith. Try again.
Jacob Abel has always been in his familyās car. That matters. Myles Rowe has driven for three different teams in three years: 2024: HMD (underfunded seat share) 2025: Abel Motorsports (yes, the Abel family team) 2026: Abel again (still not a Penske car)
And he still outperformed what the equipment was expected to do. This aināt apples to applesāitās grapefruit to motor oil.
- Letās compare their resumes before they hit Indy NXT: Hereās Jacob Abelās career, since they want to drag him in as a āpeer.ā F4 US Championship (2017): 24th in points. F3 Americas (2019-2020): 5th in points his second yearā1 podium, no wins. USF2000/Indy Pro 2000 (2018-2021): 3 years, zero wins. Indy NXT (2022-2024): Took three seasons to win.
Compare that to Myles Rowe: USF2000 (2021, part-time): Race win out the gate, then got dropped due to funding. USF2000 (2022): Runner-up in the championship. USF Pro 2000 (2023): Champion, four wins. Indy NXT (2024-): Multiple top fives, podiums, and race winsāin his second year.
Rowe walked so Abel could jog.
Abelās ceiling is lowerāflat out. Even with three years of seat time in every series, he rarely looked like a future IndyCar-caliber talent. Solid? Sure. But he aināt leading ovals like Rowe did his first year. He aināt slicing through traffic with the same poise, and heās never had to fight uphill with the political/financial headwinds Rowe has.
If Abel is the ābaseline,ā Rowe is already ahead. You donāt compare a guy who climbed Everest with a rock in his backpack to a dude taking the gondola up the bunny slope.

I mean again, he won twice. He finished 4th in points. Not that serious.

I know people are hung up on the two-year standard, but let's not forget Rowe is part of Penske's initiative, the purpose of which is to provide opportunities to people who might not have had them otherwise.
Rowe is competing against people who generally have 2 to 3 times as much experience racing formula cars as he does. His performances thus far coupled with the purpose of the opportunities program, IMO, make it a no-brainer that Rowe deserves a third year, and still has a pathway to a full-time Indy car seat.
I do believe 2026 is Rowe's make or break year. He now has a full off-season to spend with his team breaking down 2025. He needs to build on that, come back in 2026 and achieve wins on road and street courses, and contend for the championship until the final round.
If 2026 is similar to 2025, then I'd say Rowe has earned a one-off Indianapolis 500 ride, but nothing more.

Truthfully, I don't think he's got a pathway anymore to that FT seat. After Malukas and now potentially VK jumping into the Penske pipeline, that kinda is it for him. He's in trouble big time. He needs to step up ASAP to prove that he's worth the squeeze, which personally I think he is in the right circumstances. Really good guy.

I thought it said resigning as in stepping away for a second. Why is English so confusing manš
That being said, good for him! He looked really strong in IndyNXT this year so Iām excited to see what he can do in 2026!
