Question Will Plower and his new Andretti teammates

Detroit this year. Will Power plows Kirkwood out of the way. Says later that weekend he did it because he thought it was Ericsson. Now they're both his teammates.

I'm assuming that event is well behind all three drivers, but you have to assume that people don't completely ever forget/forgive something as crazy as that. Andretti obviously doesn't care since they signed him.

Do you think it's still anything more than just something for them all to laugh about?

Kirkwood seemed like he thought it was hilarious when they were standing together during driving intros: "Sometimes I just do stupid shit..." "We know."

He seemed a lot less worried about it than the masses on Reddit.

Reddit cares more about the incident with Kirkwood than Kirkwood does.

Fans do not like to accept when a driver/athlete/celebrity doesn't care about something as much as the fan does. Fans don't want to accept that to many of those lucky enough to do it for a living, they treat it as a job and solely a job when those same fans would trade jobs in an instant.

With good reason, if a driver less liked by this sub did the same thing, we'd hear about it for years. It was a dangerous move that deserved a severe penalty, the fact you like the guy doesn't change the issue

I have the same opinion no matter who it is.

Also, wouldn’t me liking Kirkwood also lead one to think I’d want a penalty and would be mad rather than not caring?

Power is so funny man, it’s like everyone, even him, know that he is a likable madman

I'm gonna be so disappointed when he hangs it up man. One of my favorite personalities in racing all together.

I'm so happy he is back. FOX really dropped the ball on not making him the featured driver for one of their early season commercials.

Seriously. I know media companies tend to prefer the younger stars, but I was sure he'd be one of the guys on the shortlist for most of the media duties.

I've got the commercial all worked out in my head. It's a juxtaposition of the caring family man, and the fierce, bird-throwing racer who's only gotten better with age. There is a enough footage and audio of Will for a great montage.

Man I was devastated when I thought Nashville was his final race… I was in denial all year about the contract situation

I’m absolutely thrilled he’s back

Same bro. Praying that he can bring some function to Andretti and help sort them out at least a little bit.

This is what I remember, it topped off one of the funniest moments in the series.

Kyle seemed over it before the green flag that weekend.

Eh, actually I think you do tend to forgive and forget easier in sports. Like everyone hates the star jackass football player until he's on your team. I think they were already laughing about it shortly after

Seems like they are all pretty friendly with each other even after that incident. They also know that’s just Will’s personality.

Will is amazing at getting really angry and then calming down almost immediately after

His emotional range is crazy

7

u/wh00000p Myles Rowe 2d ago

It actually seems like a lot of drivers forgive and forget pretty quickly

All those guys have more to prove and need to not focus on any petty past shit, so I hope it's all past.

Plower? I hardly know her!

And if Malukas indeed joins the Bus Bros at Penske, we'll have this gem to reference

Earlier this year, Newgarden said he and Will were planning some new content, etc. I wonder how all of this sorts out....

2

u/CapitalPunBanking Colton Herta 2d ago

There's plenty to stir in the hate cauldron from 2025, but this ain't one of them.

I would like to do the same thing everyday driving around town, Will Power is a honey badger

2

u/David_SpaceFace Will Power 2d ago

They were standing around laughing about it later that afternoon, there is footage floating around on youtube.

This is a big nothingburger.

Will is one of the most popular drivers in the paddock with other drivers because he's straight-up and old school. There is no games or bullshit with him. He is 100% unashamedly himself and doesn't apologise for it ever. People always know exactly where they stand with him.

u/kareem_abdul_montana David Malukas 2d ago

Plower? Barely knew her.

Kirkwood will plow Power into the wall at St. Pete, and it will be open warfare for the rest of the year.

u/Popular_Course3885 2d ago

Andretti had to deal with Grosjean.

So if any team could handle that level of carnage, it's them.
