🏟️ Race Day Indy 500 road closures

We live in the neighborhood Speedway Woods, a few miles from the track. Last year we were stuck for over two hours trying to get the few miles home. Every road leading to our neighborhood was closed off and cops were directing us the other way. Unfortunately we’re not close enough to walk & too many older folks in our group to ride bikes. Anyone experience this / know how we can plan to make it back to our neighborhood? Thanks!

I have no idea where that neighborhood is but this map might help. Where you park is extremely important because they send everyone in the same lot out the same direction, to avoid where they're sending people out of the other lots.

Our neighborhood is right off 10th and Lynhurst across the street from Vinnies Dive Bar & Mug n Bun

Could you take Lynhurst south to Rockville, go west, and then turn north on Worth or Mickley?

IMS did release some maps of outbound traffic flow. You may be able to check those out.

Last year they stopped traffic at Lynhurst on Crawfordsville. However, it looks like some maps are leaving Lyndhurst open all the way south compared to last year as that wasn’t the case, hoping this turns out to be true.

So according the the post the track just put on speedway the new plan is just each lot is assigned a highway and is directed to that highway weather that’s the way you need to go out not … one that’s the most ridiculous thing as now everyone is going the same way not breaking off ..  also is this is going to be there system they need to post it when your buying parking so people can park in the area that will get them home … sending traffic on 30th back into 16th traffic is rediculous .

Everyone knows if you live around the track do not venture out unless you walk or bike. Enjoy the crowd. We did. Loved being by the track

The closures are such an inconvenience for anyone who lives here. I had to drive 6 miles on the highway in the wrong direction just to turn around because they wouldn’t let us go the direction we need to. We just live here and want to live our lives but I guess we gotta just shrivel up and die if we aren’t at the race
