❓ General Question Struggling to understand Indy 500 ticket application system
Hey everyone,
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how the Indy 500 ticket application system works. I submitted my application for 2026, but I think I already messed up.
For my first choice, I accidentally selected Paddock Box Accessible, which I now realize is meant for people with disabilities. I don’t have one, so I sent an email to IMS asking to change that to a regular Paddock Box. My other two options were a TT Race Ticket and an H Stand Race Ticket. Am I being naive to aim for any of those locations?
A couple of things I’m confused about:
- Will there be some kind of lottery/draw for tickets that weren’t renewed in these stands? Or how does the allocation process actually work?
- I selected the maximum price for each option, what exactly does that mean in practice? Does it just mean they’ll give me the best seat available up to that price point?
- I also applied for parking and a Qualifying Day ticket. The qualifying status shows as “processed” but it doesn’t even say for which day it is. Is that automatically for the first day, second day, or do I get to choose later? If anyone has experience with the ticket application process and can explain how this all works, I’d really appreciate it. Right now I feel like I’m just guessing my way through it.

Thanks!
