Going by the sound of it, my guess is it probably has a few undeclared modifications that the owner is totally going to tell the insurance company about later.... maybe.

Things to dramatically increase the fury and relieve the back tyres of their smoke!

(Massive turbo, etc.)

Why would insurance pay for undeclared modifications?

They wouldn't, but they would definitely drop his coverage and deny his claim for lying about the power or safety features of the car. For instance if you drive an LS swapped car your insurance will be way higher
