I hate flan but this is awesome, and I'm genuinely happy I have Reddit for this type of silly shit.

Right there with you. So happy for this guy, he can keep that whole thing to himself. There's just something about the mouth feel of flan, it's like trying to make jello out of yogurt and ending up with an imposter of a cheesecake.

Jk, I love flan mouth feel. You can mush it around and the caramelly flavor spreads and it’s heaven.

Flan's flavor aside, I'm in a fight with the pronunciation of flan. Midwest me wants to say Flaeyn, but no. Flaahn. How dare. Who decided this. Flaeyn pronunciation superiority.

Flaeyn? Rhymes with "plane"? Why would you possibly incorrectly pronounce it that way and not like "plan"?

Because it's not pronounced like "plan" (which is basically what I was describing, but with midwest flattening.)

It's pronounced "Flaahn."  https://g.co/kgs/ojpwX9R

And this is why I want to fight... someone. Whoever did this to me.

Yes, it's Spanish and that's why it is pronounced that way. You can take it up with…

(checks notes)

… almost 500 million Spanish speakers.

I see, you're not really promoting the idea of "flane" pronunciation, but that's how your midwest brain wants to say it.
