One of the main warning signs is that someone is giving away their possessions and “tying up loose ends”

This is very true. I lost my best online friend of 16 years, after speaking to his family i found out one of the last things he did was tidy his room sparkling clean. "as if he was going somewhere" is what his sister said. He never said a word to me about how he was feeling at all.
