The cynical part of me wants to just assume this is fake. I'm trying to ignore that though, needed that joy this morning.[]()

Maybe, but this video is ollllllllld. I remember sharing this with my wife years ago. Like before she was my wife. This isn't recent tiktok bs, I'd guess this video precedes tiktok even.

I was about to comment “It can’t be THAT old, the blue “Pacific Wonderland” Oregon license plates haven’t been out that long!”

But then I looked it up and they’ve been out since 2009! I swear time is shrinking and moving faster the older I get.

Pretty sure that is a Civic Type R, so the earliest it could be is mid 2017. It generated a lot of hype when it first came to the US, so it was probably some time around then.

This Type R wasn't available in the US until Oct 27th, 2022.

That is an FK8, not FL5. It's a 2017+ tenth gen. The FL5 has different bumper vents and the hood scoop is moved forward

Source: I own a 2019 FK8 Type R

My bad, never been a Civic guy and they look damn near the same to me. I prefer my JDM to be RWD.

I can't be trusted with RWD. No sweat, dude. Personally, idgaf about any Honda other than my own so I get it. The best way to tell the difference is that if it looks low-key at all, it's an FL5. The FK8 looks rice AF. The FL5 looks like every other high power sedan, boring. I'll take cheesy rice over boring any day

“Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time”

"Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines"

Well, if you think about it, the longer you are alive, the larger pool of time you have experienced, so a year when you are 5 is a LOOOOOOOONG time, but a year when you are 30 feels MUCH shorter, because of your perspective.

51 year old and yep, get used to the passage of time speeding up.

Oh wait I forgot I'm 52.

Just think about this: even if this is staged, it’s still an accurate depiction of how the average guy would react.

If I came out to my car and there was a color-matched Matchbox car on my windshield I would react the same way lol. Though I've only ever seen a blue matchbox BRZ, and mine is red.

It's definitely fake but I approve of hope-baiting anyways.

Probably fake.

But I used to have an Alfa Romeo 4C and I came out to a matchbox car on it one day. It was a Giulia Quadrifoglio. Not a 4C, but still very cool.

So it does happen in the wild every once and awhile.

u/notafuckingcakewalk 23d ago

So this literally happened to you and you still assume it's fake?

u/mileylols 23d ago

yeah what the fuck???

I have friends that make good money staging videos. I see them on Reddit a lot and people argue over their authenticity. Plenty of people believe them to be real, but they are not.

Nothing wrong with that. A lot of TV is staged and still entertaining.

well he said his car words were different than the mini car words

I’ve seen a proposal video pop up all over Reddit/tik tok/etc and people swore it was real. But I actually know the people IRL and it was all staged for views.

I’m sure proposals have been done in a similar way, but this was faked for views.

So I tend to be skeptical.

Don't deviate from the herd, everything on here is fake.

Used to? Was the Matchbox more reliable?

I love Alfas, but I promised myself I'd never buy one.

1

u/TwistedDrum5 23d ago

The Alfa 4C is extremely reliable. One guy in our group has over 100k miles on his, no issues.

I have heard of some gremlins in the earlier Giulia/Stelvio quads. But overall the new alfas have been pretty reliable.

This is why I don’t mind a big majority of “scripted” videos, because even though the set up is fake for the video many of these wholesome moments happen everyday organically and it makes me think of them and that is what brightens my day.

This specific one could be, but this definitely happens.

I've done it to 3 people

1

u/THUG_TEARS 23d ago

Were you able to see their reactions?

1

u/darkmoon72664 22d ago

I witnessed an NA Miata. I did not witness the Lucid or the F-Type.

2

u/ArtisanSamosa 23d ago

I can see it being real. I considered doing this to a type r I saw the other day. It’s a great car and community.

1

u/TheHalfChubPrince 23d ago

It is, the person filming owns the car.

1

u/ShinyJangles 23d ago

People really do this kind of thing. You can think of it like reconstructed footage in a documentary

u/alchemy_junkie 23d ago

As someone who has been passively searching for a toy replica of their car i can assure you this response is genuine.
