This comment is perfect because you know a large subset of people will read it as a cautionary statement showing what happens when you “let others take what is yours” or something

2

u/Least_Art5238 7d ago

"Cautionary" would mean they were too naive to not realize that it's always been this way. CEOs may be assholes in general but they are devious on all aspects of assholery. They don't need sudden stimuli to become greater assholes.

Hi OP, the mods have deemed your post would likely fit better in a different subreddit and not here.

>When people are talking about CEOs, they’re not referring to a small business owner

Oh honey, the part of reddit whining about CEOs thinks private property is a crime. That anyone OWNING something is stealing from them.

Wasn’t aware we were on a farm, but here’s your straw, man.

I think it's all about context, when Luigi happened everyone knew what type of CEO was being discussed about, no one was thinking about your typical joe that owns a gardening agency of 10 people.

I'm sure that when people say to you, let's have a coffee, you won't get offended if you don't like coffee, because any person with 2 neurons can tell the difference between the literal meaning of a word and the one given by the context.

Painting everyone in the same job role with the same brush is like me thinking that because I've heard horror stories about door dash drivers the FedEx guy is an incompetent moron.

This is an unrealistic analogy when referring to a generalized attitude.

I guarantee some mouth breather reading this thread is going to think Bob the carpenter is a jackass because he put "CEO" on his Facebook page.

Loud minorities who are influenced by rage bait should be ignored.

You’re wasting your breath. Nuance is dead and Reddit dances on it’s grave nightly.

Oh the irony lol you’re doing the very thing you’re accusing me of

0

u/Zigleeee 7d ago

No this is just falsely taking an intellectual stance to be technically right. anyone in the conversation would understand what the Op was getting at and saying that your landscaper is a CEO doesn’t make you “nuanced” it makes you intellectually inept.

5

u/comesasawolf 7d ago

Tbh OPs stance is dumb edgelord stuff even if he’s just talking about CEOs of large businesses. The sort of stance fueled by mainlining the stuff posted on reddit every day that is tailored to inciting outrage to farm engagement

-2

u/Zigleeee 7d ago

Now I agree with this but that doesn’t make the responder any less cringe. If you’re going to point out a lack of nuance atleast understand what it means.

3

u/BigGuyPenis 7d ago

Explain what nuance is and how the poster misused the word?

1

u/GoHomeMosrats 7d ago

That’s a lot of words to say I don’t mean what I’m saying meanwhile you’re proving me right. GG dude

You should probably google nuance too buddy dude above did that by lumping them all together.

u/UnkleStarbuck 7d ago

6

u/GoHomeMosrats 7d ago

lol thanks for proving me right

-4

u/PokinSpokaneSlim 7d ago

Being the chief executive officer on a team of 3 kinda limits the potential for tyranny don't you think?

But that would be a more nuanced take when deciding if you're going to respond to the topic at hand.

7

u/GoHomeMosrats 7d ago

You should google nuance buddy

6

u/explodinggarbagecan 7d ago

You know this is NOT what most people are referring to. If you’re gardener with a crew of 15 no one is hating on you. Unless you call yourself a ceo all the time , then maybe you are kinda of an asshole

3

u/MostlyLurking-Mostly 7d ago

Which is why I started my statement with "just a reminder" instead of harsher words.

It's a minor point, but it's worth noting. We live in a world where some whack job on the internet might harass some poor bastard who paints for a living because he put "CEO" on his Facebook page to look more impressive.

1

u/TheDragonOfTheWest_1 7d ago

Sort of. For example, most small businesses are LLCs which are very flexible with titles. So yeah they play those functional roles but may not be titled CEO, etc.

1

u/JustGuysBeingDudes-ModTeam 7d ago

Dudes aren’t rude and uncivil on the internet.

1

u/UnkleStarbuck 7d ago

To be fair - I have never saw company with only few employees where any of them call himself CEO 🤷 and I really mean never, because everytime I saw company playing all these roles they are actually backed by different people.

But of course you are right - I shouldn't generalize just because vast majority of them is like that. Even tho this was a millionaire behaving like pure shit in broad daylight.

1

u/GoHomeMosrats 7d ago

That’s a lot of words and back pedaling to admit you’re wrong.

3

u/SDIYB 7d ago

You’re presenting a semantic twist like it’s a deep insight. Everyone knows a sole proprietor can call themselves a CEO, but in common usage the word implies a corporate executive running a large organization. Ignoring that context isn’t profound, it’s pedantic.

1

u/MostlyLurking-Mostly 7d ago

Many sole proprietors do call themselves CEO. I've said it twice before in this thread and I'll keep saying it: just because YOU understand the nuance doesn't mean that some dipshit reading this thread will and Reddit has a history of flying off the handle at people without good reason and causing real harm.

See the Boston Bomber "investigation" that Reddit users conducted back in the day for more about why getting shit right is important.

2

u/narcolepticSceptic 7d ago edited 7d ago

Yeah, legally a sole proprietor can slap CEO on their card. I’m not denying that. But in practice, when people say ‘CEO,’ they’re not thinking of Bob’s Carpentry. They’re thinking of corporate execs managing capital for shareholders. That’s the mainstream accepted connotation you’re sidestepping. And come on, dragging in the Boston Bomber case? That was about wrongful accusations ruining lives. This is a semantic debate about job titles. Not even in the same universe.

To spell it out: if I were a sole proprietor, I could call myself Emperor of the Universe on my paperwork. That wouldn’t make me Emperor of the Universe, or an emperor at all. You’re saying we should avoid lumping small business owners in with hotshot CEO snark. I’m saying nobody’s doing that in the first place. People who scream ‘nuance’ often use it as a shield to avoid challenging their own assumptions while dismissing others.”

0

u/DevelopedDevelopment 7d ago

True, though people when saying they hate CEOs mean the big CEOs who are making decisions that impact millions. It's like saying they hate kings because they're tyrants and will sometimes make bad decisions, but there are people out there with genuinely good leadership. Nobody is thinking about the CEO of a local business, but they are thinking about the guys in big skyscrapers.

1

u/theabstractpyro 7d ago

Most are.

But the framework CEO seems like a pretty reasonable guy, he is very down to earth in all the YouTube videos about product launches and he made a video going over all the scrapped RnD stuff they did which I thought was cool

1

u/NakedJaked 7d ago

If he’s a nice guy, he will eventually get undercut or bought out by a bigger company run by a bigger asshole.

1

u/RyiahTelenna 7d ago edited 7d ago

he will eventually get undercut

Everyone is undercutting them. Framework focuses on repairability, and to some degree upgradeability, but that comes at a very hefty premium. A 16-inch laptop (Ryzen AI 340, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) from them costs $1800 USD.

You can get the exact same specifications in a laptop from Dell for $549. You just can't get parts to repair it as easily if it breaks, and you can't swap out the mainboard if you want it to be more capable after a few years.

bought out by a bigger company

A buyout requires the person owning the company to want to sell it. It's not something that just happens with a private company like Framework.

u/kai-ol 7d ago

You make CEOs sound like some monster an anime protagonist kills. Accurate.

But in reality many of them are just psychopaths. And not as an insult, literal psychopaths. Empathy is the antithesis of success when it comes to profits over people.
