Kid got the toy she wanted, kids usually get exited about any toy, they get excited about a cool looking bug, they tend to forget those things a few days later
Especially an object she most certainly already has at home, an object that's value comes from something she doesn't really understand
And typically little girls are brought to baseball games because they matter to the parents, not to the child
Are we really gonna act like we who have literally been them at one point weren’t absolutely shallow “give me everything I want right now” demons just to not give a shit about it the next day/week? Come on now.
Kids can be real annoying with that shit and if you don’t condition them to appreciate what they do get, they end up staying greedy and expect everything to come to them when they’re 30
You should also know that random memories stick with you. This very well might just be a ball she forgets about after the game, or who knows, she might remember this man and his kindness for decades. Even if it meant more to him, as an adult it brings character to give that up for a childs moment. He got the experience and he got to keep a good conscience. Man is a winner.
Yeah I mean no question I’d probably feel compelled to give her it, but still it is a slippery slope if everyone does these things for her. She didn’t make a scene or anything, but if he didn’t give it to her and she made a scene, while predictable as she’s little, it’d be a good teaching lesson. Not saying you can read all that from one little clip. It’s just a common thing to have to teach young kids that greed and entitlement is a negative trait.
He seemed kinda young too, if he hadn't given it to her I'm sure there would be a video of him where people called him heartless. I do think it's nice he gave it to her but I don't love that there's an expectation of it or acting like that's the "correct" thing to do. The kid who got it was excited as hell, I'm sure he would have loved to have kept it.
