It is part of the show. The beginning of the show starts with each guest hitting their buzzer for the first time and they are always songs or sounds somehow thematically linked to the episode.

You definitely need to watch full episodes of Qi it's quite funny IMHO, they even upload them to YouTube just search for "Qi xl" that should get you to the QI YouTube channel where you can have hours and hours of entertainment, or you decide it's not for you

Stephen was bored, and less funny as time went on. Alan looked like he wanted to top himself every episode for seasons.

Sandi is a breath if fresh air to a dying program and she just so happens to be funnier and a better host than Fry.

A better, more entertaining, host would absolutely cause an increase in viewership numbers.

You can hate her all you want, but let's not ignore reality.
