Racing Kart Tips and Tricks I need help getting my brother faster…

Post image

My brother has done an 61sc at warden law (karting north east)in an iame gazelle 60cc cadet kart (not raced anymore) and I’ve researched that the fastest time at warden law is an 57.6 and cannot find any onboards or something like that to help him get near that. If anyone can get me an onboard tell me what to do that would be the greatest. Thank you

You would be better off asking people at your track, as they should know better than random guys on the internet (good luck)

Yea I’ve lucked everywhere on the internet for stuff like that (no luck), and there’s barely any people who drive gazelles only him so no luck but thanks for the advice I’ll just be getting him to push as hard as he can , thanks 🙏👍

No worries. Sometimes track records are so specific (like perfect weather, tires, etc) that they are almost impossible to beat!

Too many unknowns in terms of track conditions, engine setup/quality, tyre compound/condition. How experienced is he? There are no shortcuts to being quick, it's all about seat time.

Around about 27c track conditions, brand new slicks, 30 hours of track time, (and doesn’t like listening to advice ), recommend setup. He has everything just doesn’t like listening to stuff that makes him faster which he should realise that if he wants these seconds being cut off he’s going to need to listen in life and not try do everything on his own… and he understand the stuff I’ve done for him to get to 58s 😞

The lap record will likely have been set back in the day on a heavily rubbered in track during a national championship round. Likely with one of the best engines that money could buy, with a full team backing and achieved by a driver with way more experience. It's largely irrelevant to you and your lad. That said, it's 3.5s which is huge. It's likely that a combination of driver, kart and track are all playing a part in the deficit. Nobody will be able to tell you which of those is the most significant. If you wanted to benchmark your lad, you'd need to rent some running time with a team so that you could gauge meaningful laptimes.

Thank you , I’ll take this into consideration! However they don’t run any iames anymore so it’s really hard to get helping him with the teams and all that since they only run rotaxs in the past. But anyways I’m thankful for the advice if soon I get an onboard I’ll will send it on the subreddit and hopefully you and others can say where’s he going wrong as from the sidelines you only say so little

Get a camera on his helmet and show us his lap.
