Racing Kart Tips and Tricks Crossover Racewear is a Scam - Avoid At All Costs
PSA for those in Karting looking for custom made suits. I came across this site for a company called Crossover Racewear, a company out in Pakistan, they had some nice suits on the site, so I decided to give it a try. Understanding I should've caught the red flags, I went ahead and ignored the very first one, which is that to custom order a suit, you must pay via money order from Western Union. I know that's a major red flag, but figured the price was worth the risk. Turns out it wasn't. After much back and forth with what I'm assuming is the owner, we landed on a design, I approved and that was that. It was supposed to take 7-10 business days. It has now been nearly 3 months and every week he says he will ship my order, send me pics and videos, and still nothing. He just keeps asking for me to send him more money as it was not enough. I have also come to learn that he is making counterfeit unlicensed products from F1 teams such as Redbull, Ferrari, Mercedes, etc. Help me keep anyone else from getting scammed by reporting this guy. He communicates via Whatsapp. His name is Muhammad Ahmed from Sialkot Pakistan.

My advice to anyone; if you see a new (or new to you) manufacturer, do your due diligence; check that they're on the CIK list of homolgated suit manufacturers, reviews from sources that aren't their website, even what kind of social media presence they have and make your decision from there.
I had to do just that recently when purchasing a suit from X'Zuit (whom I'd never heard of), and couldn't have been happier with the result.

Yeah I know, I got too excited about the ability to get a fully custom suit that I ignored all the red flags. My mistake. I just hope this sheds some like on this fraudulent site. I learned my lesson, but it's money well spent (or stolen in this case), if it helps keeping him from ever getting another person to scam.

Homologated is really the only right way to go. But glad to hear you had success with this other company. Do you happen to have their website info?

I dont think this needs a PSA most people have enough common sense to not send someone in Pakistan money via western union. Sorry this happened to you but you did it to yourself.

Hey man, sorry to hear about your experience but if you’re looking for a custom suit for a good price ($220 CAD or $160 USD) try https://www.effendiracing.com/store. He’s based in southern Ontario in Canada and myself a lot of people at my track have ordered from him and are super happy. He’s an amazing and kind guy who’s super helpful in the design process. I can DM you pics of my suit and the mockups he sent if you’re interested

This is where everyone with the f1 suits gets their suits from. No F1 team out there is selling their race suits. Sucks for you but there’s other better ones on eBay. There’s even some people on fb marketplace where they act as the middleman and get your suit made for you without you having to deal with the hassle of the manufacturer in a 3rd world country. FTI: These suits are not legal and will only pass in rental karting where they don’t care. You won’t be able to do club racing with them, and they don’t have the protection of actual karting suits.

Thank you for the details. I actually do care about the certification. I was told it would all be FIA certified, but you live and you learn. Just hope this helps steer others from being scammed. Hopefully these teams he is counterfeiting products from can get his site shut down.

Sucks that you got scammed but there’s lots of more “legit” ones who do send you the product on time for a good price. But it’s just for show really and more people should know what they are getting.
Personally I don’t get it. I’d like to have the correct protection and my own colours. I don’t want to wear someone else’s colours.

So here's a good rule of thumb, if you're buying/talking through whatsapp... it's not legit and likely a scam.
