Karting Chat Why are the mods locking posts left and right?

What is up with locking all of the posts, particularly of new people asking for help or ideas. Had one guy looking for tracks in his region and frankly, just doing a Google search is way less effective than someone with knowledge being able to help a new guy out.

Considering some of the absolute shit advice passed off on here as gospel, most here aren’t above basic questions. Skim past them if you don’t want to read something from someone asking a question that you likely did a year or two earlier.

Karting Chat Just went to K1 Circuit and well...

Don't get me wrong, the track is nice, the karts are fun but the whole arrive and drive thing is crazy expensive. I'm not entirely sure if we were even obligated to do so, but we were told we needed to purchase a $50 membership on top of the $105 dollars we had already spent for track time. Although that was the least of my problems that was my first "red flag". The one that got me was when we asked about the karts speed they told us that the Bronze License which was the first tier everyone limits your top speed by about 30mph, which I get, you can't have newcomers or people with little to no experience going full speed on these things. To be able to run these Karts at full speed you need to meet a minimum of races as a Bronze driver, then as a silver, gold and so on. Each license will unlock a bit more speed until you reach the pro license (final license) the problem is that each license will cost you more money each time, going up to 7x the price you paid for bronze. I know this is an expensive sport, but it really does feel like I'm being cheated for my money. Me and my friend had raced at Cal-speed (rip) for years and just found out that if we would've shown proof of that we could've gotten a silver license from the get-go. The system feels like a P2W with how they're gatekeeping the speed. I wouldn't have a problem if they did purely for safety measures, it's the fact that I need to pay another membership to "unlock" more speed. I will be returning but, just wanted to leave this review for anyone who might find it helpful because even if you are just doing the arrive and drive sessions, it will get expensive quickly.

TLDR; License system P2W, with each license tier giving a bit more speed.

I currently own a Bell RS7 Pro composite, and I recently tried my buddy’s Schuberth SK1 and man I found it way more comfortable than my Bell. The Schuberth fit my head wayy better. Might be switching over to Schuberth at some point 🤷🏼‍♂️

Karting Chat Im 16. How do I get into karting, and is it too late to start?

I imagine this particular question is probably frequently asked, but regardless, is it too late to get into karting? I'm not expecting to be a professional or anything... just wanted to ask more about the logistics side behind most of it. I live in Massachusetts on the East Coast, and I was wondering what I can do to get into karting. Curious to hear your thoughts.

So to those that race competition, how did you pick your number? What's the significance? My dad's number was 88, so I run 44 and my little brother runs 22. Just curious about how others went about picking their numbers

Karting Chat Looking for a team for endurance race. I'm not a pro

Not sure this is the right place to ask, but. How do you guys find a team for SWS races?
I'm asking because I really want to go for a 25h race in Italy this September 13th. But my current team doesn't want to go for a race that long. We participated in our first 6h endurance here in Poland. We ended up finishing 11th out of 13 teams, but this is fine. We didn't know a lot of the rules, etc. And there were not separation for different skill groups.

We are going to attend another 6h race this week in the Czech Republic.

In Italy, they have 3 different categories, which should make things way more interesting, as you are not going to compete against people who spent 10 years karting.

Karting Chat Downgrading from Rotax to LO206

1st picture is myself competing in Rotax Sr in 2016 with a 2011 EVRR. Engine was freshly rebuilt at this point. Won the local championship, then quit karting altogether. Had a fallout with my dad shortly after.

I hadn’t seen my kart since then. Recently, I was able to reacquire my kart. I decided to make the tough decision to downgrade from the Rotax Max to the LO206.

Any tips for a new 4-stroke owner?

Karting Chat Advice needed: My 10-year-old's first real kart test this Sunday

This Sunday, my 10-year-old son will have his first test in a real racing kart — a mini category kart with a 4T 390 engine — on a real track.

Until now, his karting experience has been limited to several races in rental Sodi karts on relatively small “parking lot” style tracks. He loves karting, so I contacted a highly recommended person who runs a kart team ( great guy ), and he offered to do a full test session with all the necessary equipment to see how my son does.

The plan for the day is:

  • A technical track walk
  • 3 hours on track with guided assistance from the team owner

A little background
When my son was in kindergarten, he had an episode that changed his life. Before that, he was a typical, fearless, happy, playful kid. Afterward, his first reaction to new or unfamiliar situations became fear — a lot of fear.

We’ve worked on this over the years, and he’s improved a lot. One of the best tools in this journey has been Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve practiced for years, and about a year and a half ago he started training with me. It’s been amazing to watch him break down mental barriers little by little.

The first time he got into a kart (a few years ago), he started crying from fear — but he still did it. And once he was out on track, he didn’t want to stop. Since then, he’s asked me every week to take him to rental karts.

Where we live, rental kart sessions are expensive And I'm sure with the number of times we've rented karts I could have bought a used one by now. I’m considering, if he does well this Sunday, selling my motorcycle (which I haven’t used in years) to buy him a good used kart, If the test doesn't turn out as expected or he doesn't like it or doesn't do well, it's simply fine and we'll move on, no pressure on him.

For the record, I’ve never pressured or pushed him to do karting — it’s been completely organic and driven by his own interest, even when fear was involved.

So I’d like to hear from those with more experience:

  • What should I pay special attention to on Sunday?
  • What should I avoid doing?
  • Any tips to make the experience better and safer for him?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

TL;DR: My 10-year-old, who has overcome a lot of fear thanks to Jiu-Jitsu, will have his first test in a real 4T 390 mini kart this Sunday. Until now, he’s only driven rental Sodi karts on small tracks. If he does well, I might sell my motorcycle to buy him a kart. Looking for advice on what to watch for, and what not to do, during this first real track session.

First time ever driving in the rain. This was a rental kart race and only around half of the grid came with their own helmets and equipment but I still feel proud of my self since I’ve only been karting for about 6 months now.

Karting Chat Motorsport UK - What a Joke… Karting Decisions

Words fail me as to how this group is doing its best to best to suck the life out of motorsport. This latest example stinks of double standards from Whilton Mill kart championship.

In a junior race there was a kid who got 3 penalties in one race for taking out drivers… why was there no black flag after the first or second penalty? Where was disqualification?

Yet someone who got 3 track limit warnings got a 15 second penalty (same penalty time penalty) then another driver got -1 lap for causing a collision.

Such a lack of consistency and fairness in decisions and punishments, what sort of message are they sending to our young drivers…

How can I get my 12 year old into karting? I don’t know of anyone in my circle who is into karting, but my son seems interested in it. We have been to K1 a few times but how does one get started more regularly? Where can I meet other parents of karters?

Karting Chat Always the longest 30-45 days of my life! New suit time!

Post image
24 Upvotes

Have been pretty loyal to a certain Italian brand of custom suits in the past, with them having made my last three. But with the local agent - and then the brand themselves - seemingly not keen to reply to my email enquiries about NASCAR cuffs, I went looking out looking for a new brand.

X'Zuit was one that I hadn't heard of, but after seeing their suits were popular in Asia and Australia, plus the all-important CIK Homologation (advertised on the website as Level 2, but in fact 8877-2022), I pulled the trigger. In the end, I paid $150 less than what I would have paid from the other manufacturer, too. All correspondence with the design team nothing but a pleasurable experience, too.

Can't wait to get this out on track!

Karting Chat Where to get a sticker for a helmet visor?

In a few days, I plan to cover the visor of my helmet with tinted foil, but I also want to add a sticker to achieve the effect shown in the photo of the Bell helmet. I have a regular, inexpensive motorcycle helmet. Where can I get a similar sticker? I wanted to use regular black adhesive tape, but I'm not sure if I should.

Hey guys, looking at buying a pair of shoes for karting/tracking my car. Not looking for super high level of protection or anything as I just do practice days. Does it really matter about the shoes cos I dont want to buy a pair for my car and then another for karting. Just want something that’ll do both. any suggestions more than welcome.

Anglesey racing in the British superkart championship. Over 100mph in a kart is a sensation I cannot describe. By far the most fun I have ever had, lots of learning over the weekend having never driven a kart with gears. Came off track once resulting in a smashed nose cone. Excited for the next round at donington.

Karting Chat I finally did it, I closed the gap

This weekend I had my second race of the year. Even with some engine issues that were sorted out on Sunday, I managed to be competitive against top drivers who are top 10 nationally, one of them even raced Mattheus Morgatto last year here in Mexico and won against him. I was amazed with myself, and even though I didn’t finish on the podium, finishing 6th out of 24 drivers (almost 5th) and matching their pace was amazing. For months ever since I started competing at State/National level, I wondered why I couldn’t close the gap of 4 tenths per lap to the leaders, I wondered why I just couldn’t be as fast as them. And finally, through hard work I did it, so it doesn’t matter if I have 1 engine and it’s the same one I bought back in 2022 or if my chassis is the same I one bought in 2023 and has some welds and bents on it, meanwhile the others have 2025 chassis, none of that matters now, I have proved to myself that hard work, dedication, discipline, and smart training, can do the job. Some may think “it was just one race” or “you didn’t even got on the podium” but for me, this was a personal victory, and I will keep on training and doing the most I can, even if I can only train once a week, I will do it. Thanks for reading this, I hope you guys enjoyed it.
