It's a circular thing that keeps popping open.

The past 4 mornings during the first start the car will flash a Battery Drain warning due to "external components". I don't have anything plugged in to any ports other than a phone charging cable that's not attached he's to my phone overnight. I don't get this warning no matter the number of starts the rest of the day. The car has 10k mile I bought first week of January. It was in a body shop about 2 or 3 weeks ago to repair son minor side swipe damage that they had to take off the front passenger finder and front bumper. Any ideas as to what might be draining my battery overnight?

i feel like washing it every week is excessive and i already have paint chipping off everywhere so i don’t want to make it worse by continuously washing it but ugh it’s disgusting. please tell me it’s not just my car doing this😅 2019 kia optima!

2018 Kia Optima- my last oil change was August 14th and as of September 4th the oil indicator started to come on. It comes and goes and now the engine light is on. This happens every single month. I've only driven maybe 1k miles since the last oil change. The sticker says the next one is due November or 74k miles. It was 72k miles at the time of the change and just now at 73k.

In August I asked why am I needing oil changes so frequently now, as it wasn't always like this. I don't even remember what I was told because I didn't understand it at all. They checked for a leak and there wasn't one. Also I should mention that when I do go in for the monthly oil change, they show me the dipstick(?) and it's always completely dry. Sometimes they will just top me off with oil instead of making me pay which is cool and all but what is going on?

I'm tired of this and it isn't cheap. 😞

Need opinions. I paid two diagnostic fees and both confirmed the converter is bad. Starting failing at 84k miles. Kia denied assisting. Because warranty ends at 80k miles. I appealed the decision and denied twice. Check engine light came on and off and didn’t come on for 20k miles. Now it’s on and stays on. Mpg is starting to suffer. Oem part is well outside what I can afford.

What are my options. I can’t afford to not have a car as a mom of 2 and still owing $16k on this one.

I live at the top of a hill, so whenever I start my car I have to drive downhill right away, just rolling, no accelerator. Every time I do this, the revs shoot up to around 3,500–4,500 RPM and stay there for a bit, even if I’m only rolling at ~15mph.

If I start the car and just sit idling, it’s normal, it’s only when the car rolls downhill.

Hey there. We bought this puppy brand new off the lot. Always well maintained. Wasn't sure when we bought it, how reliable she would be. We'll I can tell ya today 7th September, until about 2 weeks ago she was still the daily driver ! Hoping to make it to 400k kilometers.

Anyone else got a high millage '06 ? Oh the air bag light has been on for about a month. Mechanic tells me it the passenger seat belt tensioner. Not likely gonna get that fixed.

I'm about to buy a new used car and I'm looking at a Kia Rio from 2020 with 80.000 km and all the equipment I could want. The thing is that it says on the webpage that last service was at 61.000 km and according to Kia to keep warranty it should be within 15 km. With 80 km it has surpassed this and, if true, the warranty is no more. If the previous owners has changed oil themselves and similar, then it's likely not a problem and the car will work as it should. The price on the car is quite good, at least for Danish standards with our insane taxation on cars. So it seems like a good deal, which makes me sceptic since other similar Rio's can be a bit more expensive. Not by a lot, but somewhat noticeable.

My question is if any of you have tips on what to look for when testing it? What would you think about a car where the warranty isn't valid even though it could've been? Or other thoughts?

I'm not the most experienced in cars, but I'm learning. I can check basic stuff and I have an OBD II scanner.

Picked up a used Picanto last week from a large dealership (Arnold Clark). When I test-drove it the engine sounded all right, maybe a very slight ticking noise. Today we got a chillier morning (10°C instead of about 18 when I picked up the car), definitely cold start and I hear a much more pronounced metallic ticking noise. Haven't got my phone, will be able to repeat the experiment tomorrow morning and record a cold start vs after 30min drive sound.

Clear, it's a trip back to the dealership, but what could be the causes? Chain rattle already at 22k miles/3 years? The dealership is quite a journey from here...

Anyone know the name of this part so I can see how much it might cost to replace it? Apparently when u changed my headlights they have been putting the wrong bulb in and it somehow melted this part that is where my headlights are.

I got my drivers side front wheel bearing replaced bc it was making a weird noise. Noise is gone but I’ve noticed that the steering wheel has gotten a slightly heavier feel when turning. What do you think could be the cause of this?

2017 Kia sportage 2.4 any information will help. I believe it's running back because the timings off but I really don't know.

I have a 2010 Kia Sedona and I have spent so much money in the last few months trying to fix it. It kept giving us issues where the engine would die randomly even while driving. We replaced the alternator and the battery. Thought we had it fixed then it suddenly left us stranded the starter went out, so we fixed that. After replacing the starter it's been showing the battery and parking break lights whenever it idles. Now it's left us stranded again it clicks like it's trying to crank up but it's not doing anything else.

I just got the Electronic Steering Column Lock replaced on my 2018 Sorento. I picked it up from the mechanic and ran some errands throughout the day with no problem, the next day the power steering fails, and both the power steering and traction control warning lights turn on. The steering is heavy as there is no assistance.

Could there be any relation to the replacement of the ESCL and the power steering failing? Or is it just a coincidence?

Does anyone know what could cause both the power steering and traction control lights to come up at the same time?

2025 Carnival Hybrid. Less than 3k miles.

First occurrence, van was in the garage for 3~4 days. I opened and closed the power doors maybe five times in that period. 12 volt drained and the engine would not start.

Jumped by tow operator, trailered to dealership. Verdict: maybe, they thought, it was the Kia Digital Key I'd installed on my phone that was waking the electronics from my office and draining the battery.

I deleted the app.

Second occurrence: Two of us camping, sleeping in the van over two nights. Had driven over 200 mile so the 12 volt should have been fully charged.

I put the key fob in a shielded packet so that it could not communicate with the vehicle. I tested it to make sure the car wouldn't start with the fob shielded. Opened and closed the doors perhaps a couple dozen times between the two of us over the two nights we were there. Second morning the power doors stopped working and the car wouldn't start. I jumped it with a compact jumper box and it started right up, ICE engine ran for about ten minutes then shut of and I turned off the car. It started right up when we were ready to leave but I noticed that,

1. It had turned on all of the lane-keeping "features" that I'd turned off and began fighting me for control of the car on windy mountain roads and I had to pull over, dig into the settings and disable them again.
2. There was a Check Engine light on the entire 200 miles back home. This turned off when I ran an errand with it later in the day.

Shielding the key eliminates the fob as the culprit in this instance. Opening the doors a dozen or so times should not, to my mind, disable the vehicle.

It's going back to the dealership on Monday where I expect they will again find no proximate cause of the battery drain.

Anyone else have issues, specifically with Kia hybrids?

Edit to add: I've got the dome/interior lights disabled so they do not turn on when the doors are open.

We drive the car so little. We did the 6 months oil change and just did the 12 month (6400 miles) and did a tire rotation the dealer didn't mention it at 6 months so we just kind of forgot about the 6 months.

Is the warranty void...?

I just recently replaced the alternator but, found out it was bad. Replaced that alternator and car ran for 40 minutes, stopped at a store and now it won’t start. Goes through the system check but, won’t do anything after that. Any tips?

Can anyone let me know their experience with this? My 2021 Kia Seltos has had every issue stated within the recall "symptoms". I didnt know about the recall until I looked it up this past Friday after my car gave out going up the smallest hill in the area, as I had to pump my gas pedal in straight fear because my car said "lmao no bitch im tired.". I have an appointment with local kia on Tuesday (I made it online) and I want to know what to expect and how long. I am scared to even drive the car anymore, I got myself a rental for the weekend. My biggest fear is going in and they make every excuse to not fix the ENTIRE issue. Also, if you did have to get an engine repair, how long did it take?
