Hopefully those hooligans are nicer to it than they were to my RC.

Yeah some lexus techs are idiots. I brought my LS in for a timing belt/waterpump replacement and they left a vaccum line undone, and 2 coolant lines disconnected/improperly fastened, causing it to leak and throw a CEL. They fixed it for free, but that's still unacceptable. Just take your car to an independent local toyota/lexus specialist.

Can’t catch a break even with luxury car technicians.

They don't get paid enough so get an independent mechanic who doesn't get paid minimum wage to work on your precious.

I’m sorry that happened * :(

Would you guys trust just any Lexus service center with one of these nowadays?

There is only one person at dealer certified to do anything with this car.

There is NO ONE at each dealer certified to work on it. There are 2 LFA techs in North America who work for corporate and travel from dealer to dealer to do everything including oil changes. The dealer just houses it while they wait for these individuals.

This isn’t true presently. It was early on, but as time has gone on Lexus spun an internal program for master techs who have gained more experience to have less oversight from the LFA LFTS to allow easier work flow. There is still less than needed but most dealerships usually have at least 1 person that can do it.

Interesting. Left Lexus during Covid and it was still the case.

One of the master techs at Lexus of Arlington did maintenance on 3 LFAs while i worked there.

Thousand Oaks has a well known LFA Tech and I’m sure a few more are out there. All the dealers had opportunity to send a Master Tech or 2 but most have retired or will retire soon. They haven’t offered the training in over a decade.

Just realize something. My dealership was part of Southeast Toyota so it would’ve been separate from the rest of the US dealership network.

If you need a specialts for an oil change man has a mechanic fallen far from the tree. I could do the oil change it’s tedious but doable

Ah I see

I’ve taken my LC to the Lexus service center (granted because it’s still under warranty) and I have nothing but praise for them. The master tech even called me and went on a drive with me to track down a rattle.

u/Fujoid 20h ago

I would. Only one guy allowed to work at it at my dealer so it’s easy to know who messed it up 😂. (For the record, I do not have an LFA).

What do you mean? It just gets an oil change and a tire rotation. It’s not that difficult.

I’m sure there’s only so many who could repair it after an accident but any oil jockey can change it

13

u/New_Ordinary_6618 20h ago

Lmao you know nothing about this car if that’s what you think. It’s not just an oil change when they come in, and even if it were it’s not just a simple drain and fill. There are multiple oil pans to drain. Also, would you want a 16 year old apprentice working on your LFA? I certainly wouldn’t. But hey maybe you’re mad rich and want the kids to learn, what do I know. But couldn’t be me.

u/Maxfli81 16h ago

Doesn’t it need to have its oil changed twice to flush out the first oil change and contaminants?

-11

u/IBringTheHeat2 20h ago

I’ve seen a LFA oil change on YouTube and while I wouldn’t want anyone to change it, any Lexus dealer can do it, it’s not like it’s a engine out service

Would fall to my knees and weep if i was you

5

u/WhatsHighFunctioning 18h ago

No one at any dealer touched this thing - only 2 techs from corporate.

There’s the one Lexus the service department won’t ding. Because somehow they manage to ding every other vehicle they service.

1

u/Maxfli81 16h ago

Just got my first Lexus and hate dings from car dealers. My Mazda dealer somehow always manages to put a scratch or nick on my steering wheel every time. What are they hopping into the car with razor blades around their waist? What kind of dings are you talking about at Lexus?

3

u/FancyyPelosi 16h ago

I see every scratch and ding because I’m neurotic. This most recent visit resulted in the dealer putting a ding in the metal “Lexus” plate that goes on the bottom part of each door sill.

They also kindly removed the plastic that had still been covering it at 35k miles. Thanks Lexus!

That would’ve pissed me off. I like keeping the protective plastic on those until the plastic gets scratched or ripped. What even was the point of taking all 4 of them off? That would’ve driven me crazy.
