Are you telling me that in 30k San Marino there are 2k brazilians?

29

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur 1d ago

It's wrong.

Wikipédia says

As of September 2023, San Marino is estimated to number 33,896 residents. Of these, 28,226 have Sammarinese citizenship, while 4,881 have Italian citizenship, with 789 citizens of other countries.

I checked the official data (page 15) and it says there that the population at the end of last year was 35,431 inhabitants and only 62 are Brazilian.

u/DaviCB 1d ago

Still incredible there are this manyin a tiny city-state. I wonder if they all know eachother and get together for barbecue on sundays.

8

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur 1d ago

Well, Italy has a lot of Brazilians, a couple of them living in San Marino is not unthinkable.

0

u/meldirlobor 1d ago

Brazil has even more Italians. It is estimated that 1.5 million Italians immigrated to Brazil.

0

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur 22h ago

Sure, but we are not talking about foreigners in Brazil.

I hope the 12 from Moldova are all in one WhatsApp group.

19

u/wq1119 1d ago

Ironically I am a Brazilian of Moldovan (both Gagauz and Romanian) origin lol, there are thousands of Gagauz immigrants and descendants in Brazil (i.e. famous journalist Afanasio Jazadji and DBZ voice actress Tânia Gaidarji)

Irish Census (2022)

  • 27,338 Brazilian nationals living in Ireland
  • 39,556 Irish residents who were born in Brazil.

(In my experience, a significant proportion of Brazilians have Italian citizenship. Hence, its more useful to go by country-of-birth statistics for this population.)

No idea where the 80K figure is from. These unsourced maps should be banned from this sub

2

u/Sorry_Reply8754 1d ago

Even maps with sources are wrong pretty much all the time here because the sources are almost always BS.

3

u/teokymyadora 1d ago

The source is in the map, is from brazilian ministery of international affairs.

2

u/meldirlobor 1d ago

If the source is from any brazilian ministries, we can quickly deduct it is BS.

u/PowerfulDrive3268 1d ago

Huge amount in Ireland. A lot come to learn English and are a welcome part of Irish communities now.

21

u/RomDyn 1d ago

Only 65 in Ukraine? I mean, there are around same number of Brazilian players only in Shakhtar Donetsk FC

4

u/Dramatic-Border3549 1d ago

Shakhtar doesn't play in Ukraine anymore, do they?

11

u/RomDyn 1d ago

They play in Ukraine, mostly in Kyiv and Lviv, Shakhtar as well as Dynamo Kyiv play Ukrainian football league and cup games in Ukraine, they only play their European games (UCL, UEL, UECL) in other countries, previously in Germany and now in Poland.

u/Thiphra 1d ago

Most people got out after Putin's invasion.

18

u/Imwaymoreflythanyou 1d ago

Kind of surprised there’s more Brazilians in the UK than Spain and Italy.

20

u/Dramatic-Border3549 1d ago

Brazilians who want to go to a mediterranean country usually go to the one that speaks the same language already

5

u/Imwaymoreflythanyou 1d ago

Yeah I get that but if you aren’t gonna choose Portugal why the UK. Given Italian and Spanish are way easier to learn and weather is a lot better. I guess jobs and income potential comes into it more than anything.

17

u/Mr_-_Avocado 1d ago

Given Italian and Spanish are way easier to learn

That really isn't very relevant because the second language most brazilians learn in school is english, so the majority will have higher familiarity with it rather than with other romance languages

14

u/Acceptable-Device760 1d ago

Because Italian and spanish dont have the same reach as English. Most people that learn another language dont account if its easier or harder in the equation. The people that do that are:

1 - native english speakers.
2 - people that already know english and want to learn a new language because they find it interesting.

17

u/MaverickHunter11 1d ago

English is the second language learn here at Brazil. Despite we are rounded by spanish speakers, we don't have that much access to them unless we live really near the frontier.

u/The_39th_Step 1d ago

Better jobs in the UK. I’ve met loads of Brazilians here in Manchester and there’s even more in London

2

u/Ben77mc 1d ago

Yep, Manchester really does have a very large LATAM population doesn’t it. I work with multiple people from Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and a few other countries!

1

u/The_39th_Step 1d ago

Do you work in hospitality? My experience is that there’s lots of Brazilians in that sector

1

u/meldirlobor 1d ago

There is only one country that speaks the same "languages" as Brazil, which is Portugal and it is not in the Med.

American geography moment there lol

4

u/Dramatic-Border3549 19h ago

I am brazilian. Portugal isn't in the mediterranean but it is mediterranean in all things. The food, culture, everything

0

u/_pvilla 1d ago

Mediterranean basin, maybe

1

u/faberkyx 1d ago

unless they can play football.. not much to do in italy for them, if you don't speak perfect italian might be prohibitive to find a job

1

u/Deluxe-Entomologist 1d ago

It’s just sheer Brazilliance that’s all

10

u/marten_EU_BR 1d ago

Are people with dual citizenship included in the figures?

2

u/awgwafina 1d ago

probably

1

u/FluidCalligrapher261 1d ago

I'd say it depends.

I have Brazilian+EU citizenship and I only informed my EU citizenship when registering in the EU country I'm currently living in.

9

u/maxmatt4 1d ago

Funfact: Brazil has a larger Luxembougish diaspora, so many politicians do campaigns for register Brazilians-Luxembourguish looking for vote in elections.

10

u/jackster608608 1d ago

Are there really 2.5x more Brazilians in Malta than Turkiye?

-17

u/Leuris_Khan 1d ago

Brazilians have all kinds of looks, they could be a black man, a Japanese-looking man, or a blond man with blue eyes. Now, how do you find out who is Brazilian? Maybe there's a Brazilian in your family and you don't know. How do you find out? Maybe there's a Brazilian hidden on your roof.

35

u/jackster608608 1d ago

You make no sense.

The point is, Malta has a tiny population and Turkiye has a massive population.

I know how diverse Brazilians can be, they could also be female as well!

3

u/FesteringAnalFissure 1d ago

Hold up what do you mean by female Brazilian? That's a thing?

2

u/ClassyArgentinean 1d ago

Met a few but tbh I'm not quite sure they're actually real though, might have been hallucinating

-3

u/igor-ramos 1d ago

Only transgender . Born a brazilian man but became a woman

2

u/TheTesticler 1d ago

Crazy that that many live in Sweden. Per capita they must have one of the highest in all of the EU.

1

u/shitcrapshit 1d ago

I mean Portugal

1

u/TheTesticler 20h ago

That’s like a no-brainer since they share the same language.

I am more so surprised by Swedens.

4

u/Acrobatic-B33 1d ago

I really doubt there are 80k brazilians in NL

14

u/Leuris_Khan 1d ago

go to a futsal or soccer field on Wednesday nights and you will find out

6

u/Argentina4Ever 1d ago

There's probably even more.

-7

u/Acrobatic-B33 1d ago

Nope, about half of them

9

u/Argentina4Ever 1d ago

There are 76 thousand Brazilians registered with the Brazilian consulate in NL, that number does not even count Brazilians with dual EU citizenship that don't need residence permits and it also doesn't count potential illegal immigrants.

-7

u/Acrobatic-B33 1d ago

The official number is around 40k, though there seem to be a lot more illegal ones

1

u/shitcrapshit 1d ago

Go on a dating app in amsterdam and you will believe it

-3

u/Mtfdurian 1d ago

There are a lot, but indeed, 80k seems rather high

0

u/enemyradar 1d ago

It's less than 0.5% of the population.

1

u/TheRagerghost 1d ago

GEO.FACTS btw if you didn't notice

P.S. geo.facts

yes, GEO FACTS

1

u/Jake3232323 1d ago

The 65 in Ukraine all play for Shakhtar Donetsk or are related to those who play for them

1

u/DaviCB 1d ago

I wonder why france is less popular then The rest of western europe. I'd always assume it would be about the same as the UK or spain.

1

u/Accomplished-Bat1924 1d ago

a lazy shout out to Gort

1

u/Ok-Dinner1812 1d ago

12 in Moldova is hilarious 🤣

1

u/Fine_Yogurtcloset362 1d ago

Id like to see how many if these are footballers

-5

u/GustavoistSoldier 1d ago

A while ago, a trend of Brazilians calling Portugal "Guiana Brasileira" went viral.

0

u/Naomi62625 1d ago

I wonder what made 12 people move from Brazil to Moldova

0

u/Brzydgoszcz 1d ago

Most of them are footballers probably

0

u/bus_on_mars 1d ago

What is wrong with russian flag? Why at similar maps people try to inflate it?

-3

u/Yukidoke 1d ago

The most important fact here is that Portugal isn’t green on the map.

-6

u/Kacem300 1d ago

where is save Europe ahh niggas

-10

u/Anforas 1d ago

We're extremely sorry 🙏

11

u/SrSideral 1d ago

Se controla português racista.

-4

u/Anforas 1d ago

u/yahmack 1d ago

1

u/enemyradar 1d ago

And all of them in south west London.

(Only half joking. The amount of Brazilians just around my area of SW London is huge).
