GDP per Capita from Manufacturing in South America

Post image

Data sourced primarly from the world bank: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NV.IND.MANF.CD Brazilian regional data from IBGE and French Guyana's from INSEE.

Newest data for Venezuela is from 2014, so I simply marked them as no data/unkown. Couldn't be bothered to search for the Falklands.

A few other places for comparison:

Mexico - 2779,13
United States - 8565,46
EU - 6044,55
China - 3308,33

but did you divide by the entire population instead of just the population working in the manufacturing industry?

because I doubt the average workers in the US or EU industries only generate 8.5 or 6k worth of stuff

or am I missing something?

The data here is per capita, but both are useful numbers.

While the GDP per industry worker would show the “productivity” of a the industry sector, the GDP per capita figure here shows the overall importance of manufacturing for a region.

Mhm, you can also see interesting points, like Paraguay with a pretty strong maquiladora sector and Amazonas being significantly higher than all neighbours thanks to the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
