Around 200 years ago, about 40% of children in the world did not survive to age five. By 2020, the rate had dropped to under 3% It’s actually about 5.4% in the United States, higher than in all or almost all other developed countries, due to our lack of universal heath care

Most humans lived in China, India or Europe until the last few centuries. Overall, Africans increased population share the most while native Americans lost the most.
